So i was watching Better Call Saul just a bit ago, and there was a scene that featured some very familiar guitar melodies.  I couldn't put my finger on it but I knew somehow this was Jacket related.  Here's the clip:

I then remembered that when I heard it in the Jacket realm, it lead into Old September Blues (quite the pairing in my opinion), so I figured it must have been on one of the compilation albums.  Turns out I was right:

Depending on where you look, Jacket either called this Old Sep Blues (Ga-ed out version) or Sleepwalk/Old Sep. Blues.  So when I looked into Sleepwalk I found the original musicians:

After a little more digging, it turns out the original song was influential well beyond MMJ or Better Call Saul but it's funny how a few guitar notes can take you on a journey through time.  Hope you enjoyed the clips!

That's some fine detective work there, Stevie!
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Thanks Johnny!  My girlfriend is making fun of me now because i had never heard the original song before.  I guess it's extremely well known.

All that matters is that you've heard this killer song.  Thanks for posting the video - it never dawned on me that there was slide guitar on this song.  So cool!@!@
Cuz it's been so long since someone shattered me.

Impressive Stevie.

Better Call Saul is phenomenal, and learning of an MMJ connection makes it even cooler.

Sleepwalk is one of my favorite tunes of all time! I've never made the Old Sept. Blue connection, but it's definitely there - good catch!  If you like Sleepwalk listen to the original version, it has been covered a ton over the years.

Thanks to this post I now recognize this song all the time by mariachi bands at my favorite Houston mexican restaruants! Right on

I knew this song from the movie La Bamba, which I watched as a kid on repeat for years straight, so I've always made the connection with that.
