SOUTHBOUND
by Mark Kemp
Whether it's the rowdy, Southern rock of the Drive-By Truckers, the garage-y roots blues of the North Mississippi Allstars or the reverb-soaked psychedelia of My Morning Jacket, the South seems to be rising again. Alongside Kings of Leon and The Black Keys, these bands are putting the soul back into southern music, and it couldn't sound sweeter— or dirtier.
