QuoteDylan, will you take care of the 9/8 Planetarium show?

adding it to my list of things to do over spring break.  I keep putting it off for some reason.  Too bad there aren't more 2001 shows in circulation, that was a great year for the band.

Is there only one recording of this? Because i have the one that you uploaded. It was just one countinous track with not so great audio. From your camcorder or something.

Well, since this thread has gone silent with my little break from working on the archive, I think I'll answer this one ...
As far as I know this is indeed the only recording, and it would have been the one I was supposed to upload as well. The only adjustment I would have done, was split the contineous track into separate ones.
And although there may be better recordings in circulation of other shows, I'm very glad this particular show has been recorded. because it was a very special night!

As I said, I had a little break from working on the archive. Finishing the year 2000 seemed like a nice moment for that ...

Anyway, now's the time for the next volume. It's the first 2001 show I have, and as I wrote before, there are not that many from this year, the Live Music Archive already has 5 shows, which were in my archive as well, and I will add 4 or 5 shows. Here's the first one! Enjoy!!

Thanks, Ger. Can't wait to hear this one.  I personally think 2001 was their best year, too bad no one was recording the shows for the most part.

I don't know if you plan on uploading the show from the BRYCC house they played a week later.  I provided a tape that Kory uploaded for me for this show, 03-02-01.  http://www.archive.org/details/mmj2001-03-02.BRYCC

I guess I'm wondering if you have a different source.

thanks again brother.

You're more than welcome!

I'm not uploading my source of the March 2nd show at the BRYCC house, because it's identical to what is already on the archive. I downloaded that version and compared. Even the tracksplits are the same. So I guess with "tape" you actually mean "CD" or better "CD-R" (the lineage there says: MD > CD > EAC-Rip > wav > flac).
Anyway, I got it on CD-R myself (I think KC Guetig gave it to me in May that year when they played here), but I had no lineage info. I guess it's mostly the same as the archive-version.

aMD

I got it from Lee Gutterman, the taper.  He taped the show on Sony MD and then burnt the show to CDR and gave me a copy. I'm sure he gave Guetig a copy at that time as well.  I don't know what program he used to burn it though.

I guess you have all been patiently waiting for the next volume of the archive?! ;-) I have been busy with a lot of other things, mostly non-MMJ, some non-music, but also a few other 'music related projects' ... Anyhow, the MMJ archive project is still in progress ... So, here's a new volume for you all to enjoy!

As I wrote before, there are not that many 2001-shows in circulation (although I know of shows that have been taped, but never surfaced, see my previous posts). The previous volume of the archive is the February 24, 2001 "Insomniacathon" show in Louisville, KY. I also have the March 2 and March 17 from back then, but these are the same sources as already available through the Live Music Archive. Next in line is a great, but short recording of the last performance of the short May 2001 tour through Belgium and The Netherlands. They did three shows in each country. Of that total of six shows, I know of three that have been recorded, but they still have to see the light of day ... I was at two of these shows, and was even standing next to the taper at one of them, but even several attempts didn't get the recordings to me ... (and this was the last time I mentioned this!) ... The 7th performance was their second at the "Club Lek" radio show for VPRO Radio at the Studio Amstel in Amsterdam. It was aired live on the radio, and that broadcast was captured on tape by yours truly. See the info-file over at the archive for further details ... By the way, this performance supposedly has also been taped from the audience by the same tapers as just mentioned (oops, I did it again ;-) ). Oh, and this second Club Lek performance has so far also been their last there. They were going to do another one on November 5, 2003, but it was cancelled due to Jim being ill. Subsequently also two shows in Germany were cancelled, which postponed their German debut for a couple of days ... and made the Amsterdam show on November 3, 2003 the last Dutch show so far (which is a huge shame! remember where it all really started?).

Also see the My Morning Jacket live archive 1999-2004 @ http://www.magnix.demon.nl/mmj/archive/ for this kind of information (when, where) ...

Enjoy!

Magnix

Although it's pretty quiet at this very thread, I guess you all are downloading the latest addition to the archive!? I mean, looking at the number of downloads of the Club Lek recording in less than three days ...

Anyhow, I was doing some researching for the next volume, and was wondering about the show that is next in my archive, but is also in the Live Music Archive already: the September 1, 2001 Jim solo show in Bloomington, IN. All these years, I have had this one listed as Jim James solo @ the Secretly Canadian Barbecue, Bloomington, IN. The list of past shows on the official site has the same details (however, that's not unusual, as we shared a lot of information back then). But somewhere last year (if I remember correctly) the same recording appeared on the LMA as live at Space 101; Blommington Fest - Jagjaguwar Showcase, Bloomington, IN. Well, Blommington has to be Bloomington too I guess, but can anyone provide more details about this performance?

Secretly Canadian and Jagjaguwar work very closely together, I think they're owned by the same people so it was probably a Secretly Canadian/Jagjaguwar happening. Looks to me that the info on the Archive is about right, except for the Blommington part.

You're right that Secretly Canadian and Jagjaguwar are related, so I was thinking the same actually, but the "barbecue" part doesn't make sense when it was an inside performance. I mean, I expect a barbecue to be outside, right ;-)
Anyways, I guess we both 'have to' change the info the sites!?

aMD

it was probably a barbeque restaurant.  you may not have those kind of eateries overseas.  Thanks a ton for the shows.  I really wish we could get more of the 2001 shows to the surface.

Good thinking, I should've thought of those ;-) Anyways, I guess we can list this particular show as "Jim James solo @ the Jagjaguwar Showcase a.k.a. Secretly Canadian Barbecue during the Bloomington Fest at Space 101, Bloomington, IN, September 1, 2001" ... or something like that ...

Oh well, as for other 2001 shows, indeed I wish more from that particular year were available ... Anyhow, I have at least two more almost ready to go, and maybe a third one to follow. Just stay tuned.
