So my wife took the initiative and called CID and this is what she found out. CID will not be announcing any more bands before the on-sale, but they are still looking to sign more bands. They also would not confirm lord huron as the second headliner, which leads me to believe that one of the mystery band they are trying to sign could be a bigger name. There will definitely be pool parties at Nizuc which might have live music. The resort will be mainly guest for OBH with maybe 5 - 10 percent not there for the music, which is likely time shares.

Not sure if all this is common knowledge, but I figured I put it out there.

Good info good dr.  Bummer that they won't announce any more bands before the on-sale, that would help a lot of folks feel better about the price increase.  Interesting about Lord Huron.  I thought their tweet about a 'headline length' set was interesting.  In past OBHs, the opening band each night typically got a headline length set, between 75 & 90 minutes, so I could still see them as an opener if they can get a bigger name for the non-MMJ night.

Muchas gracias to your wife!
Cuz it's been so long since someone shattered me.

Good info - thanks you for passing it on.

My guess is the bands that are added depends on how this thing initially sells.  If sales are weak we might get another "headliner", if not we are getting late night acts and pool DJs.

I for one will be there, it's been to long, I need to catch up with friends and enjoy that overall experience and vibe of OBH. I get it that the price is frustrating, it is to me as well but I'm trying to find the positives and one for me is the food quality looks way better then the previous 2 Hard Rocks have had. Honestly the DR food was horrible for the most part, and Riviera Maya Hard Rock was only slightly better (the after show street taco's is the only reason why) The other bands don't bother me as much as it does some others, it is what it is and it's not like it's a bunch of nobody's. I bet Steel Pulse will kill in that atmosphere. I'll miss Lucius of coarse but their busy with Rodger Waters and good for them, they deserve that sort of attention. At least PHJB is coming and their the best. Hope to see you there!

Definitely annoyed about the CID involvement, which I flagged early, as it is their price structure at issue. But Cloud9's property in Mexico can't accommodate this without a lot of people not being able to go. Or they have to have a second overflow property (which they've now done for things like Brandi's event).

And the DR property was larger but far worse both in terms of food and drink quality and even general safety. (I caught an exotic strep and there was a bug issue) and some of the DR properties had people dying a few years ago due to tainted alcohol.

All this is to say that it sucks that it costs more but there will be value provided and we'll get to see one of the best live bands playing music today. 🤷‍♂️

Come Closer

I was on the fence, but the price and the lineup make the decision pretty easy for me. I'd be surprised if more big acts are incoming. The support acts aren't bad, but they don't really mesh with the party on the beach atmosphere.

I got confirmation from CID that this is 4 nights of music, 3 nights of MMJ.  I know the lineup announcement caused some confusion.

Never been to an OBH, been looking forward to the announce and details.

At the moment at least, I'd be a single.  As much as I've wanted to do one of these - and the past few years drives home the fact nothing can be taken for granted to happen again - the almost $4K price for the entry level room with no option to upgrade, for just myself, is kind of a hard sell. I could get a Genesis 2021 VIP ticket for that! ( that one is for ericm lol)

But ... OBH, on a beach, yolo.  Wondering how many other potential solo travelers here are weighing the cost/benefit, think I've seen a couple posts.  I guess the half full view is it's still less than paying for two

my longtime MMJ concert buddy and his wife just told me they are passing on this one due to price and lineup, probably the nail in the coffin.

been saving up cash and loading up on southwest points, looking forward to the next tropical adventure.  but circumstances have made it impossible for me to justify this one.

maybe 2023..........

have fun, those who make the trip.

Lord Huron tweeted that they were the Second headlining act.
If you don't know for yourself, how could you ever know for me....

Haha, I love it! You could actually do a few Genesis VIP's for that $$. Not that more than one would be needed for even an old school long time fan. They still do the same set every night of their tour.

As for OBH, I'll be passing once again. Gonna do MMJ Charlotte, three nights in Chicago and 1-2 Genesis shows (not VIP) instead.

we are all in for OBH, haven't been since OBH2. If you are trying to justify the cost of it, you'll never get there. I understand that everyone's situation is different, but the fun level cannot be matched.

brob

My wife and I have been to all four OBH's and probably will wait to make a decision on this one because of the line-up and the increase in cost even though the first four were incredible.  I thought OBH 2 was the best and OBH 1 a close second.  Nothing beats the concert courtyard. It will be interesting to see if they can sell out all those extra rooms at that price point.

this is pretty much where i'm at. i have no problem at all admitting it's a stupid financial decision, but OBH is also responsible for some of the most fun i've ever had my in life. i'll gladly pony up to get that experience again, especially after the year+ we've all had.
some get stoned, some get strange, sooner or later it all gets real.

I don't think I'll ever be able to afford OBH. Just...way too much to drop on a weekend. So jealous of all you.

I guess I would say...it's not "a weekend". It's an experience you will never forget or regret. Again I know everyone's situation is different, 100% get the price qualms, I too was a little surprised, but I've missed the last 3 of 'em, Excited about this one!

Clearly somebody is reading the Online chatter about the pricing! But I think the inventory of these at that price is going to be very low.
