okay well i was surfin around on the website called nashville to kentucky and they have a live section on the site taht lists all the the covers done by jim james.  and damn there are gooood tunes covered that i am dying to hear.  some date back to 2000 so im guessing that they are basically impossible to find...if anybody happens to have some mp3s of any of these following songs or knows of some whereabouts to get them it would be appreciated.  heres a list of songs that jim has covered that i would love to hear although im guesssin the chances are slim to none:

Bruce Springsteen - "im on fire"
Flaming Lips - Race for the prize
The doors - The End(would kill to hear this)
beatles - why dont we do it in the road
van halen - jump(full band)
bush - glycerine
poison - every rose has its thorn
u2 - angel of harlem
harrison - all things must pass

them some good tunes.

Yeah,

I'm also dying to hear the end.  I just love that song, especially the 20 min live version, where Jim yells in the beginning of the song: bring out your dead.  But I think the jacket, or jim if it's a solo appearance, will give it a whole other dimension, a more sombre dimension.

Alas, was I not so fortunate to dig some of those songs up. Me neither, have a clue where to find one of those songs, so sorry waah17, but I can't help you any further.

Yeah, I think these were all back before anybody was really taping shows.  I've been lucky enough to see em do some cool covers - Hot Legs is a real standout.  THere's a couple of shows on the ftp server from 2000.  One has Easy (Commodores) and No expectations on it.  THe Jim solo show that's on the server has blue moon of Ky, Up on cripple creek, and I can't remember what else.
Last time I saw them, Johnny Cash had just died, and Jim did "I Still Miss SOmeone," and dedicated it to Johnny Cash and Shannon Hoon (I think it was the anniversery of his death).  That was in Louisville, and if anybody's got a copy of the show, I haven't heard about it.

last year jim did a solo/acoustic performance of "time of the season" that just killed me. luckily i got that show on a bootleg.

one of the great things about jim/the band, is that they always pull off some amazing covers.

a great resource for this question
