Q: Mike of Milwaukee - What newer or less popular bands do you see as emerging on the "jam-band" circuit with the departure of Phish and Widespread Panic taking 2004 off?

A: Gemma Tarlach - Hi Mike... I've got my fingers crossed that the jam band world gives My Morning Jacket a big hemp-scented hug and elevates them to the arena level. While MMJ isn't your stereotypical jam band, that's one of the many things I like about them. They're not afraid to mix it up and stretch things out, but they can also rein themselves in. And none of them make faces like "dude, I am so totally the prophet of vibe as I strum this D chord!" Just a pet peeve of mine.

not sure if i qualify MMJ as a jam band  :-/... but hey if that gets them the boost of notoriety needed to boost sales and ensure they can maintain the lifestyle they want then more power to 'em!
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.
