Nationally-released Soundtrack to Benefit The Center for Women and Families.

ear X-tacy owner/president John Timmons announced today that he will match filmmaker Cameron Crowe's donations to The Center for Women and Families. Crowe, producer of such hit films as Jerry Maguire and Almost Famous, has decided to donate $1 from each sale of a limited edition, pre-release soundtrack to his upcoming movie Elizabethtown, which was filmed largely in Louisville, to the Center for Women and Families. Timmons promises an additional $1 donation per disc for all copies sold at ear X-tacy, 1534 Bardstown Road, or through the ear X-tacy website (http://www.earx-tacy.com).

"We could not be more honored and pleased. This project affords our organization national recognition," Janie Burks, president of The Center for Women and Families, said. "Cameron Crowe's generosity with this particular project certainly speaks to his goodwill and the positive impact Kentucky must have made on him during the taping of the movie." Burks said Mr. Timmons' local generosity is particularly indicative of how the organization believes we will eliminate violence in our community--through an integrated response involving us all.

A limited run of 5000 copies of "Elizabethtown: Songs from the Brown Hotel" will be released on Tuesday, August 16th and will be available only through affiliates of the Coalition of Independent Music Stores and other select independent record retailers. The 6-cut EP, which retails for $5.98, includes a song from one of Louisville's best known bands, My Morning Jacket, along with other Kentucky themed tunes performed by Heart's Nancy Wilson, Elvis Presley, Patty Griffin, Bill Monroe and Sun Kil Moon.

"It's an honor to be one of the handful of independent record stores that has this CD available to the public," said Timmons. "Cameron Crowe has been a great customer and friend to ear X-tacy, as well as a huge fan of Louisville and Kentucky. The least ear X-tacy can do is match his generous contribution to the Center for Women and Families"

ear X-tacy has made previous donations to The Center for Women and Families, including a $500 "Counter Campaign" contribution in which ear X-tacy shoppers donated spare change which was then matched by ear X-tacy.

It's a great CD.  I just wish I could figure out how to play it on my computer or watch some of the CD-ROM stuff that's suppose to be on it.

the cd-rom stuff is just a mediaplayer that plays the same tracks.

MMJ sat right next to Elvis Presley? That's just about heaven in my book!
(Actually it's more of a pamphlet - didn't have much to write about)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Curious to know what version of "I Will Be There When You Die" thats on there. Was it recorded specifically for the soundtrack??

aMillionDreams

It's definately a newer version that was recorded for some other purpose than casual trading.  I think there's a possibility it may be in the movie but if not, then it was definately recorded for this CD.
