The Boar

I've been away for a few months as the ol' personal life as been ridiculously busy, and I'm afraid I'm out of the loop on most things. There's a LOT of new faces here that I don't yet have the pleasure to know (hello!), and a lot of people that might still remember me, like EC, sweatboard, JC, etc. (what's up friends!)

Anyway, I have been keeping up with MMJ if not the board at all times, and I have been getting very, very pumped about all the new developments. I've recently purchased the Early Recording CDs (way too late, I know) and the Songs from the Brown Hotel CD, all of which I absolutely love. Call me old-school, but I too am one that has not and will not listen to any of the new record (haven't even heard live stuff) until it comes out. Right now, it's all in my head.

In fact, last night I dreamed that I heard a new MMJ song on the radio and the sound was incredibly awesomely brilliant. It sounded something like Chris Isaak mixed with George Clinton mixed with the Black Crowes, and I was transfixed as it played. This morning, of course, I realized it was a dream and was a bit bummed because I thought "it can't be as good as that, oh well."

Well, to my utter delight, I found this article (first one that popped up on Google) on the web today that seems to dispel any fears that I had about how good "Z" is/will be. I've been thinking of a way to saunter back into this board, and I thought that sharing the review would be a great way to do so, if you haven't already seen it. Great to see everyone, hope all is well in your world, all things (e.g. Katrina) considered. Peace, Andrew  :)

Good to have you back.  Nice article too.

whothrewthecake

nice to see you around again. good article, too!

EC

I got so excited when I saw that this was a new post from you!  Hello Boar - I was just wondering what'd happened to you the other day.

Nice to see you back.  Found any nice new wines lately?

(I'll read that article later - I'm at work, and, ah, well yeah)

Specialist

great article, this has me so pumped for Z
Hold my life until I'm ready to use it

The Boar

Ah, thanks for the love, people! Great to see that I am remembered (I was a little worried). I feel all warm inside now.  ;D

Megan, I haven't tasted any great new wines lately, but my cousin just got back from Down Unda and brought me back a Dutschke shiraz that I am very stoked about! Haven't found a good time to open it up yet -- maybe Oct. 4!

Speaking of people that haven't been around for a while, has anyone heard anything from Fanatic??  :-/

corey

Yes! He started a thread in the "off-topic" section. He had a hard time for a while, but appears to be on the road to recovery.
I think it's titled "Hey y'all" or something like that.

Good to see ya back, Boar.

Of course we remember you  :D   Didn't we all sing Cobra on your back porch? That was cool  8)

That's right, we did, dith! Weren't you the one with the haunting falsetto?  8)

Very glad to hear about Fanatic, olwiggum. I'll have to search the archives, thanks.

'Haunting' is one way to describe my voice  :-/

By the way, you can read about the fanatic here http://www.mymorningjacket.com/cgi/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=offtopic;action=display;num=1122603403

We are so glad to have him back  :)

Thanks guys. I spent my lunch break reading up on Erik. Truly glad to hear he's doing better.

So any guesses as to what song off "Z" we'll do for the next go-around on my porch? From all the buzz I've heard about it, I'm thinking maybe "Dondante"? Remember, I've never heard even the live versions of these songs.

EC

Fuck yeah, it's gonna be Dondante on your porch.

I can't wait for you to hear it.  That's so exciting.  You'll have to really be aware of yourself when you do so that you can write all about it.

:)

sweatboard

Welcome back friend.  Thanks for posting that article I love it.  You are going to loose your mind when you hear the new record, I know I did.  Lay Low, Knot Comes Loose, Don Dante, is the best closing to any album of all time.
There's Still Time.........

Haha! That sounds like some kind of threat. "Bitch, it's about to get dondante on your porch!"  ;) I like it though.

If "really aware of yourself" = "drunk on scotch and philosophizing about life", I like it.

Wow! Now I am really, really pumped.
