I've really gotten into this song alot more since I picked up At Dawn again.  The meloncholy and arrangement is so creepy, but so beautiful at the same time.  Anyone else?

Oh fuck yeah. My favorite MMJ song of all time, still. Closely followed by "I Will Sing You Songs". And yes, when referring to it, you have to include the exclamation point -- "Strangulation" isn't nearly as affecting or awesome as "Strangulation!"

i don't wanna feel a thing!
one of the greats.

It's definitely been added to my 'going to sleep' playlist...such a good song to fall asleep to.

I Love this song!
Jim plays it so hard it sounds like he should be about to break a string any second.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

is there any story to the song being cursed?  remember at lebowski fest, jim said something about it being cursed.  is this just his typical humour?   :P

I think he was referring to the fact that the song never sounded right with the old lineup, so they never really played it live.  But since the new guitarist plays steel guitar as well, they were able to pull it off at Lebowski.  That was the first time they played with the new lineup in Louisville, so I think he was trying to say that he was happy with the new guys without coming out and saying that they can do more than Johnny and Danny.

At times, my favorite song. I know the feeling Jim is trying to purvey with these lyrics:

Yes she was a young girl.
Bout the age of 23.
but somehow the lord never smiled down upon her,
so she flew out on a breeze.
Said: "I don't wanna feel a thing, I don't want to feel a thing."

Growing up, waiting for "da Lord" to smile down upon me (and not having it happen) really rings true.

Got to see them play it in Nashville last year; I know "haunting" is over used, however, there's really not a better word (for me).

Second only to "Steam Engine" for me...

The loss of self/suicide interpretation is hard to argue...
