Okonokos DVD continuity

I noticed that during Mahgeetah, footage from both of the Fillmore shows is used.  You can tell because in some shots the number of guitar picks on Jim's mic stand vary.  How did they know that the footage would match up during the close ups (ie, if a guitar part was played slightly different)?  I guess they could have only used footage from the night the audio wasn't taken from when doing shots that didn't focus on the instruments.

Jim's guitar switches from Flying V to Gibson Semi-Hollow body in a couple shots.
