With all of Jim's recent talk of Sam Cooke, I was wondering what all of you thought would be an ideal Sam Cooke song for the band (or just Jim) to cover.  I would vote for "Bring it on home to me" or "You were made for me"

Any thoughts?

I think "(What a) Wonderful World" would be absolutely perfect.
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

Actually, I suggest Distant Lover by Marvin Gaye. Bedroom soul baby. Carl on sax.
I say make it happen.

Speaking of sax, what about Clarence Carter's "Slip Away"?  That might be my favorite soul song of all time, and Jim's voice is definitely right for that song!  "I know it's wro-o-ong, the things I ask for you to do, but PLEASE BELIEVE ME honey, I don't mean to hurt you."  Sweet.

SLIP AWAY IS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS CREATED BY HUMANS. I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS.
