Oh, thanks BH.  To answer your question about my thinking I was breakin the law breakin the law, it turns out that 'Wear Your Love Like Heaven' is available at Darla (thus breaking rule #1); and I actually thought that I had taken 'Hot Burrito #1' from the Streams section of this site (it's a recording from KCRW 7/8/04)...turns out it's not there at all, which begs the question: where the hell did I get that song??? It's a mystery, I guess.

Ah yes, Donovan, I forgot about that being a studio song.  It has really grown on my actually, it reminds me of a Syd Barrett song.

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

The DARK

Great picks Sean! (NYE show gets many rotations on my iPod, They Ran is one of my faves)

SONG #9
June 15th

By My Car
12-29-06
The Filmore
San Francisco, CA

This whole show is fantastic.  I think it might be my favorite of the year.  If I remember right, there are only two By My Car performances that exist.  The other one was St. Louis '06 but the sound on this one is better.  The three day run kicks off with Into The Woods, what else do you need to know???? :)

SONG #10
June 18th

Off The Record
11-22-05
Mississippi Nights
St. Louis, MO

Keep in mind, this was just days before Jim James was diagnosed with Pneumonia so his voice was not at it's most perfect, but the outro jam is like none I have ever heard before on Off The Record.  You have to check it out.

I'll also suggest listening to "Butch Cassidy" right after the version of "By My Car" that BH picked.  I really never got into this song untill I heard Jim perform it Live solo and it really just kills me in such a beautiful way......"like defeat just hangin around"

Yes!  They did Butch Cassidy in St. Louis too.  Sooo sweet.  Is it Butch Cassidy that they have only played twice now?  I have confused myself.  Have they ever done By My Car in the past.  I know they havn't done Butch Cassidy.

Oh, and I was hoping someone would pick out a Dondante.  I love listening to lots of versions of that one and I am going to listen to yours now.....wait....*cough* Ok, now....

Damn that's good Dondante.  If only that bitch would have shut her mouth during the quite part!

YOU HAD ME WORRIED!!!!!!!!

And, I checked, in the last three years, three By My Cars and two Butch Cassidys.

So, you can knock them both out with the 12-29-07 show along with a extremely rare Into The Woods.

BH

Holy crap I just got to the end of Dondante!  Where did that ending come from?  WOW! This is what I'm talking about peeps!  There are hidden gems out there, that are different from all the rest!   It's up to you to find them.  And post them here.  Ready?  Break.

Ha, At one point she starts talking about she's seen Radiohead, I wonder if she's at another show right now talking about how she saw My Morning Jacket, it's a viscous cycle.

I think I'm up:
Just One Thing
They Ran

House Of Blues, Cleveland

Both from the show i was at. These versions don't really blow away others or anything but they do have Jim talking to the crowd. They're good representations of the vibe of the show. Also I'm really into Just One Thing lately.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!
