I haven't seen a thread for this yet.  For those who haven't heard yet, Jim James and Calexico contributed this song to the I'm Not There Soundtrack.  I just discovered this by accident.  Never being a Dylan fan, I really had no intention of seeing this film.  But finding out one of my favorite singers is on the soundtrack, that's pretty cool!!    Who else here has heard it??

I never really cared for the song, the original, I mean... but yeah, I've got it. The whole album is sort of hit or miss for me.

Yeah, this is a great song.  The original and the Jim James cover.  There was a thread about it a while back and most people seemed to not care for it.  I couldn't believe it.  The director obviously liked it enough to feature it prominently in the film. Granted I'm a huge Dylan fan, but still I don't understand how anyone with a soul could not be moved by this song.

not only is the Jim James version an excellent rendition, it is easy and fun to play on guitar: http://www.iol.ie/~murphypj/DYLAN/acapulco.txt

also posted on the forums not too long ago was a live video of JJ performing with Calexico at the concert they had in New York before the holidays.

Just listened again, and I really love the tune. Jim sings it so well - so beautifully delivered. And thanks for the chords! Gonna check it out. :)
But seein you feels good, and its always understood.
That anything much sweeter would make me die.

Has Jim performed this solo acoustic anywhere?

Think he will if he hasn't?

I don't know, it'd be nice though  :)  . But..It's not solo acoustic but here performed with Calexico at the I'm Not There show at the Beacon Theatre back in November.

Wow, that's surprising that not many people liked it. I think it's an awesome cover.
How loud can silence get?
