The Tennessee Fire is my favorite MMJ album to cruise to. It Still Moves is great too, especially in the fall at around sundown. What type of cruises go with what albums for you guys?

haha, more of a smokin cruise type guy but yeah I'd say Okonokos is my favorite overall album, but I don't think its fair to say a live album is my fave.

i haven't had a car in 5 years so unfortunately, no cruising---but ....

best running album: kasabian-kasabian or anything by the gorillaz

best train album (obviously other than MMJ or verve albums) is probably the roots:phrenology

Nice, I tend to sit down on sundays, set the needle gently on side A of Okonokos, smoke a little and let them take me on a ride.  It's one of my favorites to just sit back and relax to on my day off, also really enjoy The Black Keys - Attack and Release.

My new cruisin record has been Evil Urges actually, but I usually mix it up and listen to a variety of records if I am traveling.

Love Thickfreakness, and I completely agree with you that everyone should see the Black Keys live, particularly in a club setting, they will rock your face off then beat it to a bloody pulp.  I really wish I could afford to go to Red Rocks, my uncle actually lives pretty close to there but I can't commit to buying $400 plane tickets then pay $50-$100 for tickets to the venue.

I actually just completed my Black Keys discography on vinyl, the last one I needed was Rubber Factory, forgot how much I love that album too.

Gotta say It Still Moves is the ultimate road trip album.  Put it on play right when you hop in the car going down the highway with the sunshine on your skin & wind flying through your hair.  Classic.

Tennessee Fire is more of a night time drive for me where everyone's passed out and it's just you and miles of dark highway.

shockadow

I listened to the entire Bonnaroo 08 set from Charleston to Atlanta.  Home Sweet Home wrapped up at the exit to 285...  Awesome, easy trip.
O, How time flies, with crystal clear eyes.  But it's cold, it's cold, when you're ending with diamond eyes.

I don't know why but ISM works best for me in the fall as well.TTF is better at night in the winter. And AD is best during the day in the middle of summer.

TTF is a good summer night-drinking outside in a field type album, in my opinion.

AllyDee

Woah woah woah, It Still Moves a fall album?

Definitely summer tunes on there. Mahgeetah, Dancefloors, Rollin' Back, Steam Engine.

TTF and AD are both good for late nights, any season.

Z is good year round, Wordless Chorus with all the windows down on a summer day is awesome

Evil Urges has been a pretty good summer record so far.

Chocolate and Ice EP for winter time!

It Still Moves has officially been taken over by the Radio City Live Recording.

Honestly, have any of you heard Isis' Oceanic? This album is so massive and sprawling...makes for perfect driving music, as it's really huge and expansive, but not in a boring put-you-to-sleep kind of way. Shit this album is so huge.

I have trouble with At Dawn being a bit sleepy on the road, as I almost always drive tired (I can never sleep the night before a road trip). Tennessee Fire is perfect, but it's always always always the WFPK Xmas show when I'm driving for Christmas. Perfect music, and I love the Xmas'd out versions of "Come Closer" and "I Will Sing You Songs"...

For the summer, you can't beat Eat A Peach. Seriously. Or the Fleet Foxes' self-titled. I think that one's probably perfect for putting on as it's turning to dusk.

But with gas like it is, who can afford to road-trip anymore? That makes me really fuckin sad.
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

Well, if we're just talking MMJ albums, I'll put it this way...

Central Valley county roads, straight for miles, two lanes, minimal to zero traffic - The Tennessee Fire.

Mountain highways, windy roads, minimal traffic - It Still Moves.

City Freeways, heavy traffic - Z
"I'm able to sing because I'm able to fly, son. You heard me right..."
