The little one, the lady and I were sitting by the windows yesterday (against the Classical Music/Composer section) at Ear X-tacy, waiting for Amos Lee to perform his in-store, when John (the owner) came over to let us know that he was going to escort Amos through that aisle to the performance area.

I asked him what he knew about the My Morning Jacket, Live at Ear X-tacy release, or if there was one.  He noticed I had on my Evil Urges t-shirt and knew I meant business.  He said that the last he heard, because of Bonnaroo and RCMH, then off to Europe for awhile, the band hadn't even heard the tracks yet, but he and I agreed that other than one squeal of equipment (which can be fixed) it was a flawless performance.  I expressed my wish for them to release "Evil Urges: LIVE" (the entire new album in order, live, just like that day...since they haven't and won't play it in its entirety again) and he said that would be cool, but he understands that they are just going to release some of the tracks.

Either way, the most important thing I heard him say was, "We're looking at releasing it before Xmas!"

I hope he's right!   :D

I read Amos Lee as Tori Amos, and thought how odd it was for her to be ding an in store at Ear X Tacy....

I dont want to be a downer on my third post, but I don't think this release will ever happen.  ATO has stifled and delayed so many requests because they don't want them to compete with major releases, I'm sure this will end up just being another example of that.

Whatever happened to that Rudyard Kipling release I heard about?

I think you're right. As much as Jim and the gang want to release things... they're on a label that's concerned with profits and they see things differently than people who actually love music.

What does MMJ"s contract with ATO look like in terms of # of albums?

Would ATO have an issue with the band putting it up for sale/DL here on the site or Itunes or other digital DL sites? If they offer it that way, costs would be minimal as they are not having to print/press and ship to retailers, etc.

That would be nice.  Then again, it would be nice to download the past two Bonaroo shows, too.

If they don't release I hope it leaks onto the internet. then we could download it, ato would get screwed, and all would be right with the world.

....for like the 20th anniversary edition of Evil Urges they could put a second disc with it and have the ear-X-tacy show be that extra disc...

I thought that was JJ's label for other artists.

My guess is Ear Xtacy is hoping to release it on Ear Xtacy Records (their own indie label).

So far Removador's been used to release the Month of Sundays album from Jim's previous band and the picture disc vinyl of the NYE skits from 2006. Both of these are relatively low-yield sort of investments, the kind of thing ATO probably wouldn't be too interested in trying to sell to a big crowd. They do however sell really well to the intended fan base, so it makes good sense to have some way to put them out...much like an in-store performance. Small-run pressings of certain things would make sense to do through a small label like that. As far as I can tell, no one in the world besides Jacket related stuff has been released through Removador.
