like many of you, i am clearly a bit obsessed with the music as it is the only thing i listen to these days...

i have 2 great boys, ages 5 and 8, and they always say when they drive with me... papa are you listening to my morning jacket, again?

but it has infiltrated their souls... my 5 year old now sings along to Anytime and Mageetah. he also likes wonderful and hopefully i love it. it's so cool he looks at the window and softly mouths the lyrics.

my 8 year old loves the omnichord. he thinks it is the coolest sound.

teach the young. they are our future.

slim i am.
there's a pool and a pond... pond's good for you...

I brought in the Jacket to play for my students the other week. It was all under the pretense of "Lyrical Analysis," but my real goal was to convert them . . .

So yeah, you could say I'm working on it. . .
Because if there's one thing that goes well with shooting zombies it's a Dolly Parton cover-el chode

...'should appeal to the hearts of the young'  :)

my teacher did the same thing with me, yet pink floyd lyrics.  From that moment on I have listened carefully to any Floyd song...
God damn those shaky knees.

I'm trying to get my 10 year old sister away from Hannah Montana and into My Morning Jacket. So far, she loves Mahgeetah. I called her when they played it in Austin and she was really happy.  ;D So yes, I am also working on it....
One good thing about music: when it hits you feel no pain.

Took my 13 yo daughter to the Boston show she had a ball.  She loves these guys.

My soon to be 10YO son loves the Jacket. He wants to learn to play, once he trains up of course.

I pride myself on being self-taught.  ;)

my 8 and 5 year old boys can sing all the words to every song on Z because i put it on their xbox. they absolutely love them and want to go to a concert. they also think it is the coolest thing ever when our band covers their songs. for a long time, they thought that OTR was our song... i wish. my 1 year old daughter's favorite song ever is highly suspicious. she gets mad if she is riding in the car and it is not playing on the radio. in fact, she will scream until it is put in. after it is on, she dances in her car seat until she can't dance no more! then takes a nap.

i just caught my boys playing mmj on their own! before it was me that played it for them... but i found out that they put some of the songs on their playlist.. so i am upstairs and hear music downstairs.

i move closer and Wonderful (the way i feel) is playing. and my 5 year old is singing and dancing to it. i started to video it but then he saw me and stopped.

i was proud.

Nice--

I pride myself on the self-taughtness as well, Senor Dark. My children shall most certainly learn when they wriggle on out the womb.

The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

One of my students came up to me after class today and said, "I just wanted to let you know that My Morning Jacket is playing in Chicago on October 9th and 10th."

I was so proud.

My little one (turns four in October) doesn't quite know the catalog necessarily, but recognizes Jim's voice and the spirit of their songs.  Even if it's something she's never heard, she says, "Daddy, is this Your Morning Jacket?"  And I always say, "Yes it is, sweetheart!  But it's your morning jacket, too.  This is Our Morning Jacket!"   :)
