OK - I'm not much of a "forums" person, and I've tried to Google it, to no avail. So I turn to those of you who know the band better - or, at least, have known them longer... maybe you can help answer this for me:

Does anyone know about whom/what Jim James wrote "What A Wonderful Man?" Is there an article or anything from around when Z came out where he may have been asked and answered?

Thanks.

That is one hell of a fucking jam session!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

It's about a friend of Jim's.

Hmmm, I would have guessed it's about Jesus or God.
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

Not again, please.  I need to book mark the interview, but there are at least two interviews in which Jim says he wrote the song for his friend and ex-bandmate Tim Cushing after he committed suicide.  He said he wanted to write a song that would have made Tim smile or something along those lines.  I promise, it's not about Jesus!

I remember reading this as well.  But I was listening to the song the other day and I was thinking this is a great song for a son to sing about his father.  Just some of they lyrics made me think of that.
If you don't know for yourself, how could you ever know for me....
