Quoteit's a pretty enjoyable listen. the music is really good, some of the lyrics however are kinda goofy, borderline embarassing. had trouble finishing the different people song (forget the title) because of how annoying the chorus and lyrics were...but overall it's pretty good. i love the song "carried away" which i had the privelage of hearing live at merriweather in the spring.

I listened to the album in the car with my wife, and about halfway through she said "is this a children's album?" which made me wince.

I've gave this album two hard listens today and I chuckled remembering you writing something before about it, quoted above.  Isn't that great? ;D  You can dig it and play it for the kiddies.  The album has grown on me a bunch.  There is such a purity and naivete about it that I think/hope will translate well in the intimate setting that will be Joe's.

what ruckus said :)

my (7 yo) daughter was listening to it with me while she was crafting friendship bracelets on sunday...and seemed to be humming along at certain points.  all "wince"ing aside...i loved that!
On a similar note, I picked up my 2 year old Lauren from daycare last week.  One of her teachers said Lauren had been singing a song all day and no one could figure out what it was.  When they asked her, she said something like Seem Binsen.

On the drive home, I asked her to sing me the song.  I almost drove off the road!  I tried to record it later at home, but she wouldn't stop playing with the pop filter.

It sounded something like this...

"So, I do beeve none is fisicoo not me.

Its not da deets!  make you week!  Not da night!  Make you seep!"

It goes on!  I am so happy everytime she does it, and only 2!!!  If I can get her to let me record it without messing with the mic, I'll post it.

i really like this album.  listened to it on repeat one night & it's just so pleasant sounding.  i seem to quietly sing and hum "questions"  to myself randomly, so i suppose that's my favorite, for now.

re: "different people" - from carl's website (and the liner notes): "written by earl lett (beantown music BMI) additional lyrics by carl broemel"  so, maybe earl lett wrote the ,err, embarassing ones???

my lithograph info also reads "This is 1 of an Edition of 250" & until i read thru these other posts, i really thought mine was #1 of 250.  when i opened it i thought "geez, i didn't think i was that quick on the draw".  hahaha!

I really enjoy this record a lot. Was taken with it on the first listen.

The comments about it being good for kids amuses me. I often comment that Brian Wilson's SMiLE is The Wiggles for grown ups, so at least All Birds Say is in good company!

Different People is the only song on the album I dislike.    Probably the only skipper in my MMJ/Carl/MOF collection.   Just bothers me for some reason, AND then goes on a few minutes too long.    But I'll be singin' along Wed night anyway ;)

I find the album to be a quintessential grower, a little dearer with each pass. I talked to Carl for an upcoming interview and the whole thing seemed to come as a happy surprise to him. It feels fresh in that way even without knowing that.

i may becoming a little obsessed with this record.  Maybe its because its getting warmer here the mood of this records seems to fit with Spring so well. Very close to being my favorite record this year...

It's so confusing when you upside-down people talk about Spring coming...  ;)

Such a damn good record.

I've been putting it in the rotation on like every fourth album, can't get enough.

Carl! Caw!  Carl!  Caw!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I woke up this morning with Questions in my head, but not the album version, but the really awesome live looped version with multiple harmonies and it's now driving me crazy (but in a good way)...

Did everyone get their Delux version Videos/EPK download?

Watching it now.
How loud can silence get?

Yep. Except for the EPK. It's all really cool though.

Just got a .pdf booklet download, too.  Is this approach, with video, additional tracks, and booklet for download, common with other artists' releases these days?

Sitting on the train going home after a few beers after work listening to this record. I'm having overwhelming memories of New York and the week of T5. Of all the music we heard that week, All Birds Say has become my 'New York' record.

It was the best week, and this record will always remind me of that. Lucky that it's a fucken great record!

And can I just add that the 'In your own..., in your own way' line in Sunday Drivers is my single most favorite piece of music released in 2010. Just perfect...

Just listening to this again, and reminiscing about the Carl show at Joe's Pub.
What a night, what a great man! He just seems so sweet, and this album is really pretty.

When MMJ come out for their extended 2011 Australian Tour (!) I hope that Carl plays at least one solo show. Would love to see these songs live again.
