I love how everyone is digging into their accumulated MMJ discography and live shows collections, dusting off some forgotten greats while we wait for the boys to emerge this spring.  For me, its been Yim's Tribute To, the Mercury Lounge DVD, and BH's Top 40 discs.  They've definitely left us with a rich and diverse catalog to play with while they come up with what's next.

Live at the Palms is my FAVORITE live recording by far. They Ran especially, but Knot Comes Loose is great too. I feel like I should be in a really high class lounge drinking really expensive bourbon when I listen to it.

Started listening to last springs Merriweather show again on the subway this morning, Fiddle mentioned it a few weeks back at the T5 reunion. An amazing version of Lay Low bringing back memories of a great great weekend! Can't wait to see the boys again, hopefully joined by many of you here!!! :D

"But Live From Las Vegas at the Palms isn't another stage-bound victory lap in the mold of the epic Okonokos. Instead, it's an iTunes-exclusive stopgap (or, more generously, a gift to fans) by way of the state of the art studio housed in the Palms casino in Vegas. That means there's a) No distracting crowd noise, and b) Pristine sound, two things one rarely (if ever) expects from a live release. Whether those niggling details nullify the EP's "live" status is another matter; it's also largely irrelevant since what is here is a pleasant if decidedly low-key and minor session of mostly old material capturing the quieter-- and quiet storm-- side of the band. "

"If the crowd seems respectfully quiet even for slower songs, it's because there isn't a crowd; the album was recorded live at the Palms casino, but not in front of a live audience, per se. Yeah, there is a recording studio in the palms. A bunch of people recorded there.

Live at the Palms is also my favorite recording.  Makes me wish they would go back to that studio and record the whole ttf album.  Don't get me wrong I love the original.  But after hearing They Ran and Nashville to Kentucky with those arrangements and equipment, my greedy self wants more!
