Did anyone in Atlanta happen to catch the MMJ show last night at the Cotton Club? Only one word can describe what I saw last night-UNBELIEVABLE! If you haven't seen them, check them out when they come to your town. These guys are absoultely amazing. If you haven'y already, you should also check out The Thrills(opened for MMJ last night). They rock too.

Dude, you could not be more right.  The show absolutley smoked. It was the first time I had ever seen those dudes before but will not be the last.  Highlights for me were the set opener and then golden acousticly.  Keep up the good work guys, you rule.

I went to the show the other night and couldn't have left the show any happier. That was the first live jacket show that I have been to and I have to say that they fuckin rocked that place. My 2 buddies and I even got to meet them after the show. The band was really down to earth, they even bought some t-shirts that my buddy made. Anyway "Tell I'm wrong tell me I'm right tell me theres nobody else in the world," and what I'm telling you is the band kicks ass. I am not used to seeing bands play that actually put out songs with meaningfull lyrics. My Morning Jacket definitely takes the cake in that department. I am definitely going to hit up another one of their live shows soon.   jkb

Such a great experience I had at the show. It has taken    me over a week to post this because I had to be sure the feeling I felt leaving the show wasnt some fluke or byproduct of the PBR I was drinking. Let me begin by saying that I have only recently come across MMJ having first seen them on Conan. Thirty seconds into that performance myself and my peers were silenced and enraptured by the rarity of quality heartfelt ROCK exploding through the normally docile TV. After they finished on Conan I rushed to the computer to find more music by these guys. I was dissapointed at first because all i found didn't really seem like the same band(way more mello, honestly thought I got the band name wrong). It wasnt until I was at the used cd store, lookin for something i didnt have, that i stumbled across it still moves That was about two months ago and I can't hear enough. I was sold. And i still really can't explain why. MMJ gives me the feeling I am hearing something NEW, yet centuries old. That first time I saw them on Conan I felt as if it was the first time i have ever heard music at all(and I listen to alot of music).
So imagine my excitement when I learned that MMJ was coming to my town. As I told everyone I know to buy "it still moves" I told them to go to the show as well. I spent hours ramblinging on to whoever was listening about how MMJ made me feel, and urged them all to check them out live. I felt like a real asshole when I went to get tickets two days before the show and it was sold out.
So there I was. Jan.17th outside the Cotton Club, armed with a wool hat,two gloves, and $64.28(all of which i really didn't need}. As I approached the sturdy facade of the Tabernacle (wherin lies the Cotton Club)I was disturbed at the lack of local "urban outdoor entrapreneurs" with extra tickets. Instead, everyone I encountered expected to buy a ticket at the window. Everyone I saw on the outside was looking for a ticket, greatly reducing my chances of getting in.
On the sunny side, it was only 9:40 and not really too cold. I have weathered atl in much cooler conditions and had pocketed my hat and gloves. At this point I had given up hope in finding some one with an extra ticket. I began to offer to buy YOUR ticket for a good price.                                             **NOTE** I thought this would work because a good amount of tickets to the show were given away on the local whore conglomerate Clear Channel 99X "new rock and alternative" radio station(wherehI have NEVER heard MMJ songs]. I thought one of those winning listeners might wanna trade their free ticket into bome Buckhead drinkin cash.**
The more people i talked to, and the more laps i made around the venue, the more it seemed I would miss the show. I was now standing on the same corner with the same people looking for tickets that werent available. I noticed a guy walking alone towards the show and asked him to please sell me his ticket. Before he could respond I heard a voice to my left if I needed a ticket. Amazed I turned suddedly and responded YES. This(saint) dude then handed me a ticket, turned and walked to the door. I turned to follow as the 8 or so around me were stunned at my windfall. I reached for my wallet and asked what he wanted for the ticket(which was already in my hand) and he wouldnt let me. Wouldn't even let me buy him a drink. Im pretty sure he had some affilation with th Thrills due to his accent.
Any how ,I made it in. Those of you who were there saw it. Im sure anyone who has read this far knows how i felt during the show . And if you dont you need to see MMJ live.  As soon as possible.

I saw MMJ in Carrboro the other night and I was blown away. It's nice to read these post from other people that went to see them and felt the same way. There were so many cool people at the show and the atmosphere was beautiful. Thank you MMJ for being so awesome.
