I was wondering if anyone closer to the band than I knew if there any plans for the smaller acoustic ventures, that Jim James often pursues, in London. I went to see MMJ at the Astoria as part of the NME awards and thought they rocked but itd be wicked to see a lot of the smaller songs done in intimate surroundings. If anyone can help, it's be much appreciated

I would love to see one of those shows.  Actually I'd prefer if he played at my house - don't see why it has to be London!

Well the fact that MY HOUSE is in london then it'd be quite a good reason for him to play there  :P

But of he plays up here (in the grim but friendly North) I'll put you up for the night.  Can't say fairer than that :D

Acoustic anywhere in the UK would be unbelievably fab :D   Maybe if we all wish really hard.....

....but you won't all fit into my house,  You may have to bring tents. (Just a thought)

Jim did a solo show in London back in...early 2003?? I can't remember. I was there (that much I know) and it was awesome. Truly. It was upstairs at the Garage in a room with about 70 people. The place was deathly silent (how often does THAT happen these days) while Jim sang his tunes. I for one wish he'd do it again, and maybe a few times more.

I recorded the show (there was no way in hell I'd miss this opportunity) and have been waiting for my audio-transfer pal to burn it onto CD and hand it back. So when it does I'll get in contact with John Conaway and get it uploaded to the ftp server so you London people can hear what you missed.

Great versions of 'that's alright mama', 'everybodys talkin' and 'be there when you die' too, if I remember correctly.

CBSX I would love a copy of that show as i was there aswell. I remember Graham Coxon of Blur moping around. Jim also started his set with a cover of "Thats all right" by Elvis...He also covered Nilssons "Everybodys Talkin".. Jims hair was nicely swept back too..Handsome devil...hehehe

It's up at John's server ... twice. Which one should we get? And I also noticed the first track is there as well in SHN (would love to get the full recording in this lossless format)!? Anyhow, it's a great set and recording (thanks C.)! Here's the setlist, any help with track 10 would be appreciated (Jim performed the same song at WFPK Louisville's "Live Lunch" on December 20, 2002):

Jim James solo
Upstairs at The Garage, London, England, February 4, 2003
01. That's All Right (Arthur 'Big Boy' Crudup cover)
02. Sooner Or Later
03. Old September Blues

05. The Bear
06. Hopefully
07. Lowdown
08. Everybody's Talkin' (Fred Neil cover)

I asked John to sort that out (John, sort it out!) as the first upload was a failure, while the second one is the go. The difference between the two is file size and that should be obvious when you compare both.

If people out there want a non-mp3 copy of this show, send me a message and your trade list and I'll get back to you.

People who are going to download this from John's server: you need the files that are located in the "Files to Upload" directory!
