The show was tight as hell!  Lots of goofs in the crowd interfered with total enjoyment of the show.  First we had some bonehead that was either drunk or ignorant or both yelling "Bonaroo!" over and over during M Ward's set.  Mr Ward is a quiet unassuming guy and his music is equally intricate and I swear this idiot caused him to cut his set short.  There was, however, poetice instant karma for the idiot--shortly after M Ward left the stage dopey flipped over the railing separating the crowd from the stage a busted his head open.  Bye Bye numbnuts!  I saw him in the crowd later and he was much subdued--a staffer at the Webster said he got a bunch of stitches in his head.  After he left things were better, then when MMJ hit the stage a bunch of other folks thought it was cool to start yelling "Jimmy!" or various song titles out.  I swear if I had a megaphone I'd have suggested they shut up and enjoy the show.
The set rocked hard and I was front and center, with Jim slammin right in front of me for much of the show, and took mucho pics which I need to review and see what's worth submitting.
Got to talk to M Ward--a rare treat as he seems very private--and tell him how sorry I was about that idiot interupting the set and filled him in on the "payback".  Mr Ward seemed genuinely concerned about the guy's injuries which speaks volumes to his character!  I hung with Bo, Jim, Tommy, and Patrick after the show by the bus (Carl was on his cell phone) and amazingly they all remembered me from Northampton in January!  Talk about good memories--they must meet thousands of people a year.  Had some good chats with everyone and goofed on the boneheads in the crowd.  I told Bo he needs to move his keyboards to a more prominent position on the stage--hard to get decent pics of him!  He liked the idea a lot.  All in all another excellent night hanging with the best bunch of guys in the biz.  I only wish I had remembered to suggest to Jim that he cover "Falling"  by Julee Cruise (spelling?) from "Twin Peaks"  I bet that would sound awesome coming from his velvet vocal chords.  Oh yeah--JOHNNY CONAWAY: the boys say HI and tell me you're a hell of a regular guy (I dropped your name while talking about our wonderful message board here). 8)

Sounds like another great show!
Although if you got mad at people shouting out song names, you would have hated we at the Seattle show... My friends and I have been begging for I Needed It Most the last 2 times they were at Seattle.  I don't know.... I don't mind if people ask for certain songs; I just hate it when people shout random stuff, like that guy screaming Bonnorro(sp?) or stuff like that.
Anyways... glad you liked the show! Remember the setlist?

Peace

God yes! My first MMJ show! I had to, (Horror of horrors!) leave early, though!!!!!!! We had to get to the car by 11.00 or it would get towed! So I was only there for the first 4 songs in the set. Just One Thing was great, positivly heartbreaking. And the parrot was awesome, as well as the too-small blazer that Jim was wearing. BTW I was the chick in the blue sparkly party dress. The lead guitatist in Dr. Dog had a really hot guitar, my girlfriend and I wanted to talk to him but I think he thought we were groupies, so he didn't talk to us. Too bad. Anyway, what we got to see of the show rocked our frail little world.

Here is what I remember for the set list--I may miss 1 or 2 tunes and these are definitely not in order of performance:

Strangulation
Golden
The Way That He Sings
Bermuda Highway
At Dawn
Lowdown
Dancefloors
Mahgeetah
Masterplan
One Big Holiday
Run Thru
I Needed It Most
Xmas Curtain
One In The Same
Steam Engine
The Bear
It Beats 4 U

There was another tune, I believe was a cover, with Jim and Carl singing over Patrick knocking out a sort of jungle beat.  It reminded me of an old 50s tune and the words I could make out had to do with "ringin' a bell"--at which point Patrick smacked the cowbell a few times (naturally prompting me to shout "more cowbell!").  Gawd I love these guys!

This was my first MMJ show and it was amazing. The guy yelling during Ward's set was irritating as hell, I didn't know he fell though, that's hysterical. I was front row right in front of Jim with a couple friends. I was surprised they didn't come out for another encore. One of the girls that was with me, and has seen them about five times, said they usually come out. But oh well, it was still an awesome show. I was wondering what the slow jazzed out song they played was (in which Jim donned the hat and got funky). I was also curious where I could find some lyrics for It Beats For You. I've never heard it before, what is it off?

It is a new song and may be on the next cd.

I noticed there was a bit of a Halloween theme going onstage with the pumpkin and ghost which got me wondering if there was an impromptu decision made to make this the Acoustic Citsuoca tour (since Halloween is specifically mentioned on the sleeve).  Any opinions?????

That "jungle" song is COBRA (or a little part of it -- it's an epic).  All y'all need to get the Chocolate and Ice EP!

OOh ya--thanks for the reminder!  I've got that but haven't listened to Cobra enough.  Guess I should put the ep back into heavy rotation.  It so hard to choose which MMJ to listen to when I've got them all.  Yes that includes Does Bad Jazz, Does Gold Hole, and Heartbreakin' Man!  Mwuhahahaha!  They are so addictive I jumped in and devoured everything they've made.  (Can you tell I'm gloating) ;)
