just shared this over at the PJ site, it was recommended that i share here as well.

I have been dying to tell my story about MMJ for some time. What better time to do it than now, with the wonderful news that MMJ will be opening up for Pearl Jam.

2004, the year of my 30 birthday. As usual I am wasting time on the computer looking and reading stuff on the PJ message board as well as looking for new info on my second favorite band, MY MORNING JACKET. Being from Ashland, KY and MMJ coming out of Louisville, they already had my attention. Not to mention their music is absolutely the most inspiring stuff I have listened to since Pearl Jam. During this time I decided to get on their website and to my suprise each band member's email was listed on there. Being the nerd that I am and due to my 30th birthday coming up I decided to send each one of them an email, have jokingly, begging them to come and play my hometown of Ashland, KY for my birthday and expressing to them my love for Pearl Jam which somehow turned me on to their music. The very next day I received emails from each band member except Jim James. I even received an email from the manger, Mike. Each email was very considerate and personal, all wishing me a happy birthday and explaining to me of course they could not come and play Ashland due to them being in different places at this time as well as being very busy. Although they would take it into consideration for their next tour. They expressed their love of Pearl Jam and even mentioned that there had been some talk of them playing with Pearl Jam some day. Now this was in 2004 and the VFC thing was getting ready to happen, so I immediately hoped they would open for PJ, which of course didnt happen. But anyway, it was just amazing to me that these guys took the time to send me an email back. I immediately was transformed from a fan to a fanatic.

2 weeks later I receive a package in the mail. When I opened it I couldnt believe what I saw, an autographed copy of MMJ's Acoustic Citsouca cd, with a personal note from the manager wishing me a happy bday. Pretty amazing stuff.

I cannot wait for you guys to witness this wonderful band. No other band has created the emotionally attachment to me since Pearl Jam.

Here are the pics of what they sent me.

This story is a very good example of the kind of regular people the guys are.  Congrats on the autographed A.C.!  Thos image links you have don't seem to be current though...welcome aboard!
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

I think that's a great story and really special for you but, I would suggest not posting things about private e-mails and private interactions with the band.  Others may feel differently but I would hate to see them take down thier e-mail info.  These types of things should be discussed in Private Messages or amongst your friends not neccisarilly posted on a message board.  Anyway, welcome to the forum it's great to have you aboard.  I'm also a big Pearl Jam fan.

awesome story, the band rocks. if there's ever a doubt that they don't care about their fans, you're proof that they do the little things...

i'm waiting for MMJ to come out with locker posters, stickers, and pillow cases. and a lunch box in the shape of a Z... and MMJ planned communities like Martha Stewart is doing, "Jacket Heights", or "My Morning Vista"... let's go marketing team, get on it!
everything sucks. really.

you should look in the merch section for the WONDERFUL thing they have.  :)
