Unknown to alot of folks Jim James performed an acoustic performance in the press tent at bonnaroo on saturday before MMJ's what stage performance. I gotta say i didn't know much about MMJ other than hearing a few tracks on KCRW out of LA. This performance blew me away. maybe one of the best things I saw all weekend. I had a DAT and a small sony mic i was using to cover random events at the event; interviews and whatnot. I decided to tape this at the last moment and I'm so stoked i did. He played 4 songs solo acoustic. Names of the tunes? apologies, i"m currently a neophite.

I can see and learned at bonnaroo these guys are gaining followers by the second.

Due to the specialness of this performance and the ardent following of MMJ fans I thought it would be a good idea to seed this recording into the MMJ community. It is very listenable yet won't say high fidelity. Added feature to this recording is the sound of the first hard rain of the weekend which works in perfectly with his faraway voice and melody.

I don't have the ability to upload onto a server at the moment so I can offer this.

this is excellent news.  i was unaware of the solo set so i'm stoked that someone caught it.  did anyone record the set?  i know it was tough to get it all w/ the rain and everything, but i'm looking everywhere for it.
