July 4th, 4AD Show Cancelled

Hey everybody,

due to circumstances beyond My Morning Jacket's control, the show on Sunday, July 4th At 4AD has been cancelled.  Please forgive the inconvenience as the band hopes to come back real soon.

4AD's website says it's because of ill health (as far as I can translate). Some of us our worrying that one of the band may be very ill. It sounds serious if they know this far in advance they'll be unable to perform. Also worrying about the other European gigs. We've been reading about the great time people have had at the US shows. There's a lot of excited anticipation here.

Hope whoever's unwell feels better really soon.

I'm sure everyone will jump on me for asking, but why was this cancellation never explained, after an explanation was promised?  I mean, a band has every right to cancel a show, of course, but the whole thing seems kind of strange to me--the other shows going ahead as planned, no other cancellations mentioned, and no reason given.

In the absence of said reason, I say let the wild speculation and rumor-mongering begin.  I'll bet they cancelled the show to fly home for an Independence Day BBQ!

Not at all. I'd be interested to know, too. It was all rather strange. We were worrying about illness while they were carrying on with other gigs. As wild rumours go, I think yours about the Independence Day barbecue is as good as any  :)

I think the government in some countries are refusing to let them re-enter after their last tour, and they're embarrassed to let their families (or fans) know. They've become quite the Rock 'n' Roll animals of late.

Health problems due to heavy touring as the 4AD club and Studio Brussel websites said can't be it, since they played Glastonbury, Belfast, Dublin, and Cork, and also will perform in London and on the Norwegian Quart fest.
