Madison help

we are thinking about traveling up to Madison for the show on Friday night. can anyone tell me about the Annexx.........capacity, sound, places to hang before or after the show, over all impression of the venue.
Also, does anyone know of any decent and/or cheap places to stay close to the venue? (within 5 miles)

Hey man,

I went to school in Madison, and as far as the venue goes, it's VERY small and attached to a bar called the Regent St. Retreat.  I've only been to a couple of shows there, but the sound is alright.  It will definitely be better than when they played in Milwaukee last year.  With the small atmosphere, it should make for a cool show.

As far as location, it's a few blocks from Camp Randall (where UW plays) and there are several bars near it, none of which are all that great.  There are a lot of bars not too far away on State St, and even more down around the Capitol (roughly a 25-30 min walk).  There's a Howeard Johnson within walking distance and a Best Western that's less than a 5 minute drive, neither of which are all that cheap.
