i'm seeing a bunch of pics in the live gallery of jim singing with no guitar or any instrument.....what song is he doing this for....sorry for the newbish quality of the question but i've seen em 4 times and have yet to see jimmybob naked (whether that be guitarless or clotheless.....)

October

wordless chorus, no guitar.

he cuts LOOSE on the climaxing howls

waxy

lay low, no guitar-----untill the ripping solo at the end.
makes much more sense to live in the present tense

Coltrane

i swear i see flashes of Otis Redding when Jim goes axeless!
....as mayor of Drugachusettes, I declare this pizza to be...AWESOME!!!

o god

I NEED TO SEE THEM LIVE THIS INSTANT INCLUDING WORDLESS CHORUS

Ophelia

I saw it once. It was amazing!

primushead

I wouldn't mind seeing a whole show of Jim without his guitar.  It would be interesting to see how he would function without that tool, and be a full-force frontman.

i remember when i saw the pixies live and during which song i forget but frank black's guitar was shitting out on him so he just chucked it and sang without it but would still strum as if he had it on still....no i dunno if he was uncomfortable or just hamming it up...but it was very very cool

in my opinion, a full force front man is a guy that doesnt just stand around and sing.  he plays a guitar and rocks the ASSES of the MASSES.  when a frontman doesnt play an instrument, a lot of the times it makes him seem like a no talent ass clown to me.  i know some may talk about pearl jam and u2, as well as others, because there are exceptions.  but personally, i like to see a frontman that writes the songs, and can play some lead or rhythm guitar.  i guess my rational is because i know a lot of people who can only sing.

Eddie Vedder has been known to strum a few chords from time to time...

Yes, Eddie writes songs and plays acoustic and electric guitar as well as tamborine and harmonica.

& is famous for hitting the occasional duff note  ;)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

oh, and he plays the uke (just calling it that because I can't spell it)  The duff notes make me feel better about the way I play the songs.
