i'll put an order in and see if we can make that picture happen.

p.s. why do i never get bored at jacket shows? i've been to quite a few shows in my day where i've had to set the snooze alarm.

it is the reason that your neck hurts the next day, and you feel like you just went through a vortex of otherworlds.  i think it's pretty much about giving and receiving - they give it, and we receive it, and they don't stop, so neither do we.  maybe?

corey, i want you to know that i totally got it.  :)

In high school I actually fell asleep during a Georgia Satellites show.  I don't know what was more embarassing, falling asleep during a show or being at a Georgia Satellites show.  In my defense they were the opener.  I don't forsee EVER falling asleep during a Jacket show.
Well the music is your special friend
Dance on fire as it intends
Music is your only friend

i can also safely say that i'll never get bored at an M. Ward or Sharon Jones show.

i really wanted to scream that i hated the eagles to the cab driver, but he might've taken offense.

here's a pretty good indication of how great the show sounded with the pops. this clip was posted with permission from the orchestra, and band. you can't download it but you can heard it.

best, geoff

besides there being no bass and the drums sounding reaaaaaaaally small....this sounds like soundboard quality...this has to be released in the near future

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Was anyone else a little disappointed in the balance between the band and the orchestra?  I just listened to that clip from the Globe and it sounds a lot stronger than what I heard.  I was in the first balcony, dead center, and could only hear pieces of the orchestra throughout the night.  I'd love to see a release of the show so I can enjoy it at its best mix, though.  That clip is great.

Yeah, from where I was....(1st balcony, slightly to the right,) I was hoping that the Orchestra could have been a little louder, but after hearing the clips, the orchestra seemed to sound alot louder.

That's why  I can't wait for the files! Anyone find anything on archive.org?

When are you coming back to Boston, Jim James?

Better to hear only pieces of the orchestra than of MMJ!

I was on the floor the first night, row O, and you could hear the symphony just fine.  The second night I was in the balcony, and the guitars were overpowering everything except Jim's voice (which was magical, that venue seemed to soak up and swell the reverberations.  awesome).

I sure hope a soundboard mix is released, either underground or at the local retailers.
I was never that good with the words, anyway

corey

Very, very cool shots. Thanks for the heads-up. Blender always takes the best pics.

So is there any word on recordings? I remember Mofro did a couple shows with the Jacksonville Symphony and the only way it got recorded was by a dude who brought in those tiny stealth mics. I don't know how it sounded.

I think it's a tricky thing to release a symphony record. BUT, here's hoping this sucker sees the light of day!
