A friend of mine said that MMJ has been thrown around as an opener for a few of the Rollingstones dates....

The Stones pick their own support bands, right? Bands that they like & respect.
However you feel about them still touring, being picked by the Stones has got to be an honor...
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Dorothy_Mantooth

you'd definitely be shelling out some major clams for that one
"[Adrien Brody] is a big hip-hop fan and plans on becoming a producer. He is being mentored by RZA."

BH

That would be awful.  Don't get me wrong, I love the stones. But I saw them in Columbia, MO in 94 and Blind Melon opened.  We had more fun in the 8 hours leading up to it than the show itself.  Tickets cost a fortune, Blind Melon played for what seemed like 35 minutes and the sound was dreadful.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I'd believe it. How cool is that. MMJ's sound sure is stadium friendly.
This figures.  :)

if this happens, i think there should be a set that keith richards plays with them.  and he should sing "you've got the silver".  and he and jim should sing wild horses.  and maybe sit in on "older guys". ;)

i want the rolling stones to open for my morning jacket.

Yer I doubt it. I don't think The Stones have joined any of their support bands on stage & vice-versa.

The brothers Young were on stage with the Stones when AC/DC opened.

Haha, Low quality indeed - that looks like Mark Knopfler & Herman Munster  ;D
Cheers for the info Chills, I stand corrected  :)

Pearl Jam and Wilco got them some good exposure, but NO MORE 45 minute opening sets please.

You hate The Stones now (which I can understand), or do you also dislike their early stuff?

I hear ya.

I don't hate the stones, don't get me wrong.  I respect the HELL out of them.  They've made some of the best rock albums ever, which I've listened to over and over...but they should've left it at that.

I give them props for still touring, but c'mon, you have to draw some sort of line when you're approaching 70 YEARS OLD.

I really can't say much for the Rock n Roll Relics (Mccartney, the Who, Stones, Clapton, etc.) who charge the price of a car payment for a concert ticket.  That seems really, really conceited of them, considering they have more money than all of us on the forum combined...times a thousand ::)

If MMJ agreed to open for them, I would kind of be disappointed.  But, hey, if I was Jim James and was asked to open for the Stones, I PROBABLY couldn't say no ;)

Let me clarify by saying I hate the Stones for hanging on way too long and not being creative at all anymore.Hang it up if all you can do is keep rehashing your old stuff every  tour.

I like me some early Stones...say Some Girls and back.

Best Stones album...Let It Bleed or Exile on Main St.

I see your point Jellyfish but I personaly feel that if they want to keep doing it & people want to keep buying tickets then let them. The fact that the tickets are so over-priced? That I don't agree with...

I saw them twice in '93 & they were excellent. They came to my city earlier this year & I would have gone if I hadn't been out of the country at the time.

The Rolling Stones are one of my fav bands, seeing pictures or clips of them playing live now doesn't change the way I feel about Sticky Fingers, Exile, Beggars Banquet or Let it Bleed etc.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

There are many songs where i think to myself, "well, this could be the greatest song ever."
But if handed a ballot for one of those polls, and i had to pick a number one, there would be no question as to my answer
GIMME SHELTER
"Music is my savior
I was tamed by rock and roll
I was maimed by rock and roll
Got my name from rock and roll"

you see, now THAT is a ... that is an idea sent down from god directly into your brain.  that is ...  i finally understand how the pj fans felt when they heard the news.  and if it happened, i think i would have to see that show multiple times.

when the stones plays the sars benefit concert here a little while ago, keith came on stage and got REALLY pissed at all the people who were booing justin timberlake.  he threw shit at the crowd.  i love that guy.  (and justin timberlake, despite all that is obvious that we know, actually was putting on a good show.  it was very unpleasant to have people booing him.)  keith stood up for him, and i thought that was a1 awesome.
