Thanks CC, I love Patrick's pics, but all are more than great. They capture the energy very well.

How bout I hook you guys up with a real translation instead of that Babelfish one  8) I can do the other one too if you guys are interested.

BH

That would be cool. I am jealous of Europeans, or I guess anyone for that matter, that know several languages.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

...And Some Are Angels...

Darunia

I finished them :) Sometimes I changed the order and added something, hope you like it.

First the GoForMusic one:

QuoteIf there was a world championship in the 'reverb' category, then MMJ would be one of the main contenders for the title. According to the laws of physics, there just can't be more resonance on a voice and a guitar.

The group based round the flamboyant Jim James was a bit more reserved however, and chose the more straightforward approach. Wordless Chorus and Gideon are powerful rockers and also One Big Holiday (with a demented countryriff and a killer bass) and What a Wonderful Man completely blew us away: this is rock 'n roll in its most pure and essential form.

It was only with Golden that MMJ slowed down a bit: a beautiful country song with a prominent role for the steel guitar. James thought it was the right time for an announcement: 'I feel like we're in a relationship where we can really listen to each other. I'm at peace.' You're welcome Jim.

The band took the time for one more slow song, the icy 'Hell', after which they started rocking out again. Run thru was the apocalyptic finale: furious desert rock, with James as the preaching Mozes.A concert so good, it was sacrilegious.

The first paragraph of this review sucks, I could've written a better one myself :P
The Knack one: (which is a much better one I might add, it's also an actual quality magazine).

QuoteAnyone who sees MMJ from a distance would swear that they're Metallica's younger brothers. Nothing could be further from the truth: Jim James and his companions can play acoustic country ballads that, without you taking notice, evolve into grand and electrified hymns. A tad epic, but never over the top. It's absolutely amazing how James succeeded in bringing the Marquee to its knees in a seemingly casual fashion, while chewing on an imaginary piece of straw, Huck Finn wise.

I also saw them of couse and I was so impressed... What sucks about these festivals is that there are so many great bands and you can't get a good spot to see all the ones you want. I rushed out of the Zero 7 concert (which was also really good) to get close to MMJ, but I never could get as close as I wanted. Still I enjoyed the gig, it was the one that had the biggest impact on me. They're one of the most enthusiastic acts I've ever seen, and I stood there in awe for the entire show. The only thing I wish for now is that they come back to Belgium real soon, where I can line up early and get in the front rows.

About the language thing: it's said that we Flemish have a knack for languages, since we have to adopt so often (The Dutch language isn't that big globally). Also there's a French speaking part here, and most of us easily learn French. It doesn't work the other way round though: the Walloons don't speak Dutch at all :P I forgot most of my French when I left high school though, and went to study Dutch/English linguistics/literature. I speak English just as naturally as I speak Dutch, doesn't matter.

The 'you guys actually listen' comment is made by a lot of American bands, but when Jim said it, it really sounded like he meant it.

babel version:

Even if of at the beginning My Morning jacket try the Marquee with welgemikte seize mokerslagen to the throat. It will succeed them almost the full fifty minutes. Too often we do not see a zanger going this way during the openingssong as Jim James. To remain eventually nevertheless on the correct side of the meter. The American shrieks this way and soundly strident, this way tremendous concerning that podium during "Wordless Chorus" that energy producers twist are name on a bierviltje noted. As if someone him backstage unseen what had introduced forced up duracell batteries. This was roar with air, everything in the fight throw, give a powerfully loud rag. Just as, during the grown still "Hell", it can bite to breath what can more moderate, but then the bred stier sand for the last numbers. Massive.

(sorry, Babel translation only, If Dariunia still has some energy left to translate this thing in decent english, go ahead!)

"Moving hard

My Morning Jacket-frontman Jim James ailed year earlier this with a pneumonia, as a result of which the planned concert of the group in Belgium was cancelled. A serious setback, because with "z" they had added a new master work exactly to their discography. Pukkelpop offered a beautiful chance on revanche. The Marquee ran storm and got where it came for: much material from "z", with most podiumbestendige the "It still completed moves" and former plate work. The vijftal finished Kentucky silently but very floated. Some a time thanked Jim James public for its lustre willingness and expressed he is feeling of inner rest that game on the Kiewitse podium at him brought about. Beetje, but publicly enjoyed melo visible, danced an end in round at the funky single "off the record" and could lose itself in perfectly swelling "Gideon" or the melancholie of "The way that he sings". The made songkeuze were further more than sticking out: the subtiliteit and melody of "z" (what opened "Wordless chorus" with its ingenious rhythm sexy flatlied refuse) stood in strident contrast with very hard rocking and the still more massive melodies (the someone hurricane strength of "run thru" and "One piglet has measured holiday"?) of the former work. Compromising between tenderising and oerend rapidly, which is My Morning jacket on its best. Was a this perfectly concert? Not just as close. Large minus was the acoustics in the Marquee. Too beklemmend for the volume and feeling of weidsheid that the group frequently produces and provides on the fog horn with a voice with which James are deunen sing. As a result, overschreeuwde he itself meermaals and frequently silted up the sparkling gepingel in frosted and oorverdovende geluidsbrij (that version of "What a wonderful man" stands at these with stip in our migraine top 10 noted). Nevertheless My Morning jacket as rockact more relevant than ever and served they is on Pukkelpop a row sublime songs that we in the autumn best once more in a national room want herbeluisteren. I know there was a live stream, but did anyone record the stream itself or post a recording anywhere??

Now that would be great! No record has shown up yet, but never say never... I think the webstream is still up so someone with the right equipment might still have a go at!
