ok, folks i am so pyched to finally see mmj in austin. I have only seen them in az. I am counting down the days for stubbs. what a perfect nov birthday present for me. I can only thank a former coworker mike for hooking me up with mmj.  After the first listen many moons ago i have been a superfanatic.  So anyway do you think they will play any surprises at stubbs. I am hoping but not expecting a phone went west or a hopefully.  I am hopeful that they will play dancefloors, sooner, burmuda highway, and maybe just maybe a where to begin.  So what is everyone else's prediction?

A very cool bar is pretty close to being across the street, Club Deville. Probably has the best patio in Austin. Even if it's a bit chilly they have outdoor heaters. Don't expect it to be college wild. It's more of a hipster 25-35 place.

Stubbs is also about two blocks away from 6th street. School's in session so there will be plenty enough people out on the streets. You can go to bars/clubs, or shop on the streets, or order pizza from takeout windows.

If the weather is warm (I know it's November) and you are kind of cool hippie type, I'd recommend swimming at Barton Springs during the day. It's centrally located south of Lake Austin in Zilker Park. Then getting some frozen custard at Sandy's.

The State Capital is nearby, but not open at nights anymore (damn terrorists). Just above that is UT (the real UT), but the 'Drag' that runs along Guadalupe has sold out to the corporate world.

You can get a beer/food and shop for cd's at Waterloo records on Lamar st. There's a Tower Records on the drag.

If the show ends before midnight, doubt it will, you might be able to catch a midnight madness movie at the Alamo Draft House movie theater in the warehouse district (more upscale party area than 6th st.), probably be something eclectic. Can order a bucket of beers or dinner.

As far as the venue goes, I've seen music inside of Stubb's, but not outside on the main stage. So I'm pretty curious as to how it will be as well. I've vaguely heard that it is a great venue so long as you claim some of the good vantage points early.

I have tickets to all three show's, but Sat. in Austin might be the only show I can make it to if I have to work nights that week. I'm not the type to call in 'sick' to work, but I might have to start.

So if I can go to all three shows, for my three surprises I would hope for a phone went west closer, steam engine, and a really surprising and totally rocking cover.

i am thinking about going to dallas for one of the shows. I truelly hope that maybe for an encore they will do a solo jim and carl song such as hopefully. I saw it on the morning becomes ecletic and it was awesome. I am hoping for an epic  set ending such as a dondonte/run thru/phone went west, with an encore of hopefully, burmuda highway, where to begin, anytime, magheetah.  what does everyone think?

so stubbs is outside right?  if it rains we are just out of luck or what?

any idea how early you have to get there to get close?

JohnnyRage

Stubbs is a 2-level barbeque house. But yes the venue will be out back.

If it rains, I consider that lucky. So long as it's not really cold.

how would rain be fun?

is the sound good out there? also any idea how early to get there?

Just saw Ben Folds outside at Stubbs this past saturday. It was awesome. So I expect nothing less from MMJ. The show should be cool. There is a Zak Wylde show, a Sister Hazel Show, and a Los Lonley Boys show the same night. So I imagine the crowd at stubbs will be of fans who appreciate MMJ and not a hodge podge with the annoyance thrown in as some shows are at Stubbs.

bo dereks tits

i'm curious as to what the boys will be playing this tour.
No new album, no new songs (at least none that we know of yet - hopefully I'm wrong).

I'm really hoping for some old tunes, from Tennessee Fire - It's About Twilight Now, Old Sept. Blues, War Begun.....etc.

I'll be happy with whatever they bring us.

raycanales

well I was hoping it would just be MMJ fans .. its always kool to hear the crowd singing along to at least all their songs  ::)

and this weekend is the BareNakedLadies with Mike Doughty thats going to be a good show too .... Mike is a weird character ...
