you know, I saw MMJ at the hallowed Ryman a couple of weeks ago, and after catching the vibe of many posters here, I have decided to re-evaluate my feelings about the show.

Here goes:

-first of all, the venue. Can anyone say parking?? Hellloooo? My wife and I and our friends from Knoxville had to park at least 4 blocks away, plus we had to pay 3 dollars. What a joke. I mean, can't they build a parking garage inside the Ryman? It should be that I can just pull up in the Ryman parking garage and have a perfect view of the stage so I can just sit on the hood of my car and enjoy the show. And then they could have these car hops that would get you food and drinks and like have specials on chili dogs with onions, but they'd give you little packets of relish, mustard, and kethup on the side. And some plastic utensils. Don't get me wrong, I love the Ryman, but I'm just sayin'...

-Second was the opening band Wax Fang. Wax Fang? First of all, what sort of a crazy name is Wax Fang? And for God's sakes change up your set list Wax Fang! We saw them open in Knoxville and they must have played the exact same set. They should at least do some covers b/c I had not heard any of their songs before. Perhaps something new, like the Killers or an older one by the Replacements. A slower one, like 16 Blue. And you know what? I don't care to see an opening band, so it was real rude and inconsiderate for MMJ to have a band open for them. Now don't get me wrong, I love MMJ, but I'm just sayin'...

-3rd. What's up with the no smoking policy ay the Ryman? I mean, helllllloooooo!!! I smoke, and I am damn proud of it. I cannot believe MMJ would lower their indie rock creds by playing a venue that doesn't allow smoking. What a bunch of sell outs. Now don't get me wrong, I love MMJ, but I'm just sayin'...

-4th. The set list. I mean, come on, open with Nashville to Kentucky? How predictable. Let me guess the thought process on that one, "We're from Kentucky, we're playing in Nashville", duuuhhhh. I mean, open up with a new song that no one has heard. Surely they got some new stuff by now. I saw Mudhut Zinfandel at The Pershwell and they played an entire set of songs that no one had ever heard and they didn't even bother to release any of those songs on a disc either. That's b/c they're a fan's band, not some puppets of the industry. Now don't get me wrong, I love MMJ, but I'm just sayin'...

-5rd  Why does Jim James talk so much? We're not paying you to talk son, we're paying you to sing! I pay your salary dude, get it straight. And who knows what he was rambling on and on about; the sun sphere, or parthenon golden gate bridge? I almost left during one of his 45 minute tirades. There's no talking on that Onokonononononos CD, is there? I didn't pay for a public service announcement, just play Golden. Now don't get me wrong, I love MMJ, but I'm just sayin'...

-6nd  They played for like 2 hours. That's like 40 cents a minute. I saw The Parrallel Sideways at The Ratchet for 3 bucks and they played for 11 straight hours. I can see the corporate sell out from here. It all started when Jim cut his hair and started wearing shoes. Then Tommy cut his hair. I guess Patrick is next. Now don't get me wrong, I love MMJ, but I'm just sayin'...

-7ish How about an age limit on the shows? I really don't think people under 40 really know how to appreciate rock and roll. I mean, really know how to listen to it. There was this guy in front of us, must have been 32, and he shuffled in his seat once during They Ran and I almost came out of my seat and taught him a thing or two about respect. He was totally missing the true essence of the show because he is too young to know any better. Now don't get me wrong, I love people under 40, but I'm just sayin'...

-8'th  A crowd. You know what I mean? Why can't they play for me, just me, in my living room, for free, for 12 hours, while I smoke. If they were really a fan's band, they'd extend this opportunity to all their fans, playing for free in people's living rooms all across the nation. I may step on some toes by saying this, but I think they're really in it for the money. Now don't get me wrong, I love MMJ, but I'm just sayin'...

Can't wait till they tour again! I'll be there rocking my heart out, in spite of all the crap I'll be putting up with.

that's right.  no one can be critical without feeling the wrath of Tracy.

Guess what Tracy, What a Wonderful Man wouldn't have been my first choice for Conan and I thought the piano was too loud.  So shoot me.

I thought it was the single most important event in the history of television.
