I wouldn't mind seeing Metallica at Bonnaroo.  Tool last year was one of the best sets of the weekend, if for nothing else because of the faces of all the people that didn't know what to expect.  I defintiely would not be upset to see a Metallica set.

And Led Zeppelin might not be too bad either  ;)

if metallica played at bonnaroo itd pretty much be the exact scenario as that south park episode where cartman scares the hippies away by blasting metal. which, quite frankly, would be awesome and hilarious.

I was having the same thought!

That's what makes me nervous. I think they might be. We'll see what happens with this show next Monday, but I'm unconvinced that these guys can go out there and get it done. And they look AWFUL on the cover of the new Rolling Stone.
Here's my hope for the headliners:
Neil Young (To fulfill the "classic rock," also to kick everyone's ass)
Pearl Jam (to fulfill the "alt-rock")
Trey Anastasio (back from rehab, to fulfill the jamband)
sub-headliners:
Jay-Z (because Bonnaroo needs a big-name rap act!!!)
Arcade Fire
My Morning Jacket
Bob Dylan
moe.
Ryan Adams

Sadly, the latest Zep-at-Bonnaroo-news...

Too bad, I was considering flying out had they confirmed a spot. Still might...

Just surfed in, looking for Bonnaroo info.

I was apalled MMJ didn't play last year, really hoping they can make it happen in 2008. That late night show 2 years ago was un-believable.  Legendary.

I bet LZ will really play 2008, despite what Superfly says.  LZ will have a large North American tour, I'm betting, and Bonnaroo will only be 1 stop.

Hearing rumors that Plant & Krause are scheduled for Roo 08.

Apperantly MMJ was put on Pollsar as playing Friday, the 13 at roo, but it was taken down.

no, you are

how about prince as the headliner?

Anu

If you look at how great Langerado is with REM and such, I expect the 'roo lineup to be incredible. Just incredible.

I'm going to Roo for the first time this year, and I really want MMJ to be there. I can't fucking wait!

If you're lucky, MMJ will fill the void you didn't even know you ever had. If you're luckier, you'll get to see them live.

It's good for me, It'll protect me he-he-he.

Well, I'm going with an RV full of people, so I'll think we'll have to bring buy it in bulk.

Everybody seems to be putting in their 2 cents about who they want at Bonnaroo, so here's mine:

My Morning Jacket (of course)
Ryan Adams & The Cardinals
Radiohead
Trey Anastasio (hopefully, he could do Oysterhead again if Les and Stewart ain't busy)
Neil Young
Phil Lesh & Friends/Bob Weir & Ratdog/anything Dead related
Gov't Mule/The Allman Brothers Band/anything with Warren Haynes or Derek Trucks
Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals
Pearl Jam (who knows maybe they'll be there this year)
Widespread Panic
Gillian Welch and David Rawlings
Kings Of Leon
Ziggy Marley
Wilco
The Flaming Lips
Hot Tuna
Keller Williams

And if Led Zepppelin ain't there, but Robert Plant is with Alison Krauss, that's cool. At least maybe there will be some Zep or Zep-related material involved. Maybe he'll bring The Strange Sensation and/or Krauss will bring Union Station. I saw Plant opening for The Who in 2002, right after John Entwistle died, and he practically stole the show, he even came out and did an encore. And I never saw an opening act get an encore, EVER!

Of course, that was until I saw MMJ opening for Pearl Jam, Memorial Day Weekend, 2006. The closed their set with Anytime, but the reaction was so great that they came back out and did Magheetah.

Since then, I've been absolutely hooked on MMJ. So they'd better be at Bonnaroo this year.
