I know the rest of you will be living it up at Radio City, but since we apparently live in a world absent of a loving and just god, I can't afford it. So, was thinking of catching the boys in Austin again for South by Southwest, but from what I can gather, they only sell badges for the week, which are crazy expensive.  Plus, from the look of the lineup, I'll have to buy all new "vintage" ultra-skinny, ultra-tapered jeans for the event ; )

Anyone planning to go? Anyone know if there's another way to get individual tickets?  I just want to see the Jacket again. It's been almost 5 months now and I think I'm having withdrawals (you know what I mean, dead baby crawling on the ceiling, that kind of thing).  Oh well, i guess it just gives me more time to save up so I can follow them when the full tour is announced. Better get ready. Let's see, list of supplies:

-Super-heady hippie poncho
-A pitbull so I can say "hey man i need money to feed my dog"
-All necessary grilled-cheese accoutrement
-personal hygiene products...nah, who needs em
Oh yeah, I'm ready.

;D Hey Sticky!  I missed those posts.

I think Jim is playing solo in a church somewhere, so maybe you can just attend the service on the Sunday before and then hide in the belfry and survive on wine and flat bread.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Here ya go.

You only have to make it from Friday at 5:30 to Saturday night.

Mr. Highway!!!!

A pleasure as always sir.  I actually think this is an ingenious plan. I was raised catholic so I think I could handle just wine and unleavened bread for a couple days (not to mention years of guilt).  After all...

Classic!

Go see them in Houston instead.

The Jim James solo show might be doable w/o a badge. Just depends on how crowded an event is. Persons with different levels of passes get preference over those with none.

SXSW is less of a festival and more of an music industry jerkoff/orgy.

Rage, I actually just looked into the Houston show two seconds before I read your post.  That's only a ~6 hour drive from where I live so I think we're gonna hit that up. Tickets are only 30 bucks and i really want to catch a legitimate MMJ show and not a 45 minute festival set.  the last places I've seen them were Langerado and ACL. Both were awesome, but I need more! And it's also during spring break, which is nice, and only 2 days after Les Claypool in New Orleans, w00t!!!!

only austin residents can buy the $139 wristbands.  it's another perk of living in the ATX!

the only SXSW shows i've made it into have required following seedy people back into a seedier ally where a magical bouncer lets us in the back entrance. oh, and i've watched flaming lips through a chain link fence. neat.

but it can be fun, i think.

According to Pitchfork's SXSW guide, Jim's solo show includes M. Ward.  I'm not sure if anyone had said that on here before but I don't recall seeing anything about M. playing.

M. has his own show there earlier in the evening, so I wouldn't be surprised to see either one of them in each others set.  Get their early!!!

Who's taping this one!  I want to hear solo acoustic versions of the new tracks.  Tiny little fetus versions wiating to grow.
