oh, and those are just 192kbps mp3s for now, as i'm on limited bandwidth here at the Austin Convention Center, i've got the full wavs ready to convert to flacs once i finish EQ'ing the rest of the set.

EDIT: Nevermind.  You just answered my question.

;D

yeah, figured i'd clarify, as i know there's bound to be some audiophile folks here  :P

Are you going to put up the entire show?
The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place

The DARK

My opinions: Librarian is spooky/sexy. In a good, uniquely JJ way. Look at You is beautiful, obvious gospel influences here.

And the sound is good enough for me. Thanks!

yes, but it won't be until maybe Monday or Tuesday night, as I'm not gonna be able to upload it to a torrent tracker until I get home to Minneapolis.

i'll try and finish editing/eq'ing the whole thing tonight though

Quotesomehow I got a front row seat for this show.  it was amazing.  the librarian might be the prettiest song i've ever heard!

my sxsw scorecard looks something like this:
ifc show with mmj and ylt at the parish
meet jim and get a pic at the wax fang show
whigs, ylt and mmj at the music hall
m. ward and jim at a church

i should also be a dad for the first time in the next week!  life is great and getting better!

Glad to hear your life is looking good!  :)

Solace. Please wait to upload the recording.

I don't know if you saw me, but i was in the back center of the room recording with a full  audio recording rig... mics, preamp, and recorder. I promise you that my recording is of higher quality and has a larger dynamic range. I'm not trying to be rude, I would just hate to see two recordings surface, one of which is much better sounding that the other. It seems from the 2 songs you posted, your recording is heavy on the low end, since it was sitting on the floor.

If you could just wait a few days, I will post my recording online for all to download as lossless audio.

Also, what is the My Morning Jacket recording policy, are they totally fine with people recording their shows and distributing them online? I am a fan of the music, just never taped them before.

thanks,

josh

hey no worries!
heck less work for me and it'll be a superior recording!  :D

that's great you were able to tape it without any credentials, i kinda figured they'd be ninja for that show. but i'm still glad I recorded it with my own recorder, even if it's not the best quality, since if it was the only recording it'd be better than nothing  ;)

I had to do some sweet talking at the door, but i got in, without cash, wristband, or badge, about 15 minutes before M Ward started. I tried to get a soundboard patch as well, but KUT was taking the only available send, so i am guessing they will be posting  something on their website. A soundboard recording won't do it any justice though because it won't have any of the room acoustics that my audience recording has.

Hope you guys don't mind waiting a few days, I will have it posted up by the end of this week.

are you kidding? take your time (ok, reasonably anyway  ;D)

Thanks wolf attack!   And solace too!   Jim James solo shows record live soooo well.  They are my favorites and I've been itching for a new one for awhile!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

solace...what is KUT?

you mentioned they had a sound board patch....
If you're lucky, MMJ will fill the void you didn't even know you ever had. If you're luckier, you'll get to see them live.

:) thanks, r!!
and thanks everybody, too!

i haven't decided if i want to keep most of these new songs as a secret to myself so that i can listen with mostly fresh ears to the new record as a whole.  but it's so long away.  i'm torn.

i'm also a dweeb for experiencing such indecision about this. ;)
