I'm looking for a hotel as close as possible to Waterfront, idealy within walking distance. Mapquest has been nothing but frustrating and I havent been able to find an actual adress for the venue. So if any locals could help a brother out, it would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Jeff
i kinda think right now is a pretty good time to just sit down and sing people some mother-fuckin songs

Jeffro,

The above is a 13 page thread regarding the Waterfront Park show.  It's got info on hotels, restaurants, other things to do around Louisville.  I haven't gone back and re-read the whole thing but I know there was some talk of hotels that were close to the venue, but not sure if any were within walking distance.  Hope this helps.

Kory

Here is the location of the park where the show will take place.

there is the Galt House about 2 blocks away on 4th and River rd. and a courtyard that I think is at 2nd and Main, and a Residence Inn that is about Market and Preston? I'm getting all those addresses from my head.
The Brown is also nice but would be a little walk down to 4th and Broadway.

there is also a Hampton Inn and Springhill Suites (brand new addition) across from each on Jefferson St. which are close to the Waterfront.

no problem, that place looks swank from the street! If you're here for a little while, head down to slugger field and hit the restaurant inside called "Brownings" they have a kick ass bourbon barrel that'll knock your socks off. Only a couple blocks away from your hotel.

Yeah we are defiantly gonna try and take in a bit of Louisville this time around. Last time I was in town(solo show at the Rud) didnt have much time to see much of your city. Me and my best friend(we are both 28)are taking my brother and his best friend with us. Pretty much a belated high school graduation present to the both of them. We are coming from Dayton, OH and should be in town around noon on  Saturday and more than likely be spending Sunday afternoon in town too.  So we'll have a few hours before the show and some time on Sunday. I'll most defiantly be having one of those bourbon barrels on Saturday afternoon, maybe even two or three :). Any other cant miss places close? Any good bars nearby? You guys kick ass thanks again!

since its a dudes trip there are some strip clubs really close to you guys down on Market St. and then a White Castle really close for late night hunger.

for brunch on Sunday morning you should try "Toast on Market" and its on Market St. down from your hotel.

hmmm...bars wise i would say your best bet is either 4th st. Live (kinda lame) or Bardstown Rd. (much better).  Bardstown Rd. will give you a much better selection (Irish bars, dive bars, hipster bars, etc.) whereas 4th St. is pretty much all the same kind of people.

Kory or cmccubbin25,

I am coming to the show with my wife but without the little ones.  So, any restaurants  I can take her for an early dinner before the show that evening where we can sip on a nice bottle of wine that maybe overlooks the river (or something romantic like that)?  Haven't decided yet where we'll be staying but it will be one of the above choices that are pretty close to Waterfront Park (most likely Gault House), so it would be nice if there was something in that same area.
Can't wait for this show.  It will be my first live one (also heading to Detroit) as I was a latecomer to MMJ, but haven't been able to satisfy my fix since I found them.  Thanks for all the helpful info in advance, you guys are very helpful with the hometown lowdown.

KC

The Galt House has a Place that rotates on the top floor. Might be your best best for romantic + river view.
