Thank you all for a heavenly night at the Fillmore.
Thank you Jim
Thank you Tommy
Thank you Patrick-love the drums so
Thank you Bo
Thank you Carl
Everything was perfect, from Jim's performance art with cotton balls, glitter and a pair of nylons to 3 encores.  Lots of acoustic gifts to us all.
We were in the second row next to Jim, we met Evonee who flew up from Los Angeles and is a huge fan too.  This was Phil's first MMJ concert, now a fan for life.
I froze at Knot Comes Loose at the end.  I threw my Santa Hat on stage and the crew placed it on the bear on stage.  Look for it on stage Sat and Sunday!!  WOW what a vibration to be there last night. 2 and half hour set.
See you Sunday night for New Years Eve.
As Jim put it, stretch your wings and join in the energy flow...........

Wish I was there. Glad you had a good time. :)

lisa!  missed you at the show tonight!  your hat was indeed still on the bear   :)

during those encores i kept thinking, "how can they follow that song?" only to hear them rip into another.

damn.

i recounted jim's cotton ball/q-tip/glitter dance to a few people last night.  spectacular.

btw--posted a bastardized version of the set list in one of the other 12.29 threads.

i will do my best!

before mmj came out, the lights went down and "ave maria" began to play.  a figure came onto stage wearing a pair of nylons on his head, a 6 ft. white feather boa, and carrying an electric candle stick in a candleholder.  he danced gracefully-ish across the stage to a small table.  one by one, he lifted small bags off the table and showed them to the audience:  the first bunch of bags contained glitter and metallic confetti.  he opened them and poured the contents into a large clear measuring cup.  then he held up another bag:  cotton balls.  into the cup.  q-tips!  into the cup.  after he'd stirred all these things using a drumstick he danced around the stage tossing this mix into the air as if flower petals.  remember:  ave maria is still playing.

after all the mix was tossed he continued to dance with the boa, ending by wrapping the boa around his arm as the song came to an end.

bonus:  after this the lights went down.  when they came back up jim was at his mic with an acoustic guitar on, with the panty hose no longer covering his face, but still on his head.

fucking awesome.

during the whole thing i kept thinking of this line from raising arizona:  "son, you got a panty on your head."   :D

follow up:  tonight i spotted one ratty q-tip and MUCH confetti still on the stage.  i had to use it to corroborate the story.  visual aid!

Great to hear about the hat!  I can just see the processional.. what a blast.
I have a photo of the bear in the hat after the show on Friday, not sure how to upload it  but look for it in gallery later on.

I wanted to say that the opener on Friday night was the just like the performances that Jim did at the Palace of Fine Arts Oct 24 with John Prine.
I love the acustic and the sticky rock and roll.

:-* I must say that waiting for the show tonight is like foreplay.......yummy!! :-*

Be safe tonight as I am the designated driver......Lisa Marie

the show was OFF THE CHAIN last night, but my favorite unmentioned part of the show was when the crowd gave it up for the tech crew right before mmj came on.  those guys are "the best in the business" and they deserve mad props for it!
god bless the usa

I think that when Jim was up there coming out slowly to Ava Maria the nylon on his head gave him a bit of cover.  I could see that behind the nylons his eyes were so happy and he was having fun.  He gave each of the items its due over the candle light and then over the crowd as if asking for our blessing.  He carefully placed each component into the mixture and then blessed it again.  He held the bowl up like a good catholic boy at Sunday sermon.  His long white feather boa trailed off his neck and eventually fell to the stage.  Someone next to me in front said "throw it on me" and he skipped around the stage and then slowly sprinkled the mixture onto the stage and onto us as if to bless the Fillmore for some sticky rock and roll to come over the next three nights.  He then lifted the nylon off of his face, but holding back that beautiful hair off his face to see his mouth come close to the mic and begin the ride with Into the Woods acoustic.  What a treat for all of us.

Love to all

Lisa Marie
