ok, cake that is thrown, you must explain this thrusting thing to me.  or maybe i don't want to know.  :-?

it's a long and sordid tale. when the album title was first released and everyone was commenting on the fact that it was indeed going to be called "evil urges" i posted in some thread that it reminded me of "thrusting in someone's face." it makes zero sense but that's what the two words "evil urges" mean to me. however, it has since spiraled out of control and now we use "thrusting in your face" to mean things that are awesome, ways to cool down, or just ways to get BUCK. sometimes, if it's a rather clear and cool morn, i might say, "looks like a great day to thrust in someone's face." it's taken on a life of its own. so i really can't wait to bring thrusting to new year's eve. it's going to be tight.  :-*

QuoteI love you girls.  I mean, once again, you guys single handedly managed to get this forum back on track.  Last night I did at least three BLOL.   (That's Belly Laugh Out Loud.   Is that OK?  Can I make these things up myself?  How do they start?  Is there some sort of certification process to it?  I'm trying my best to keep up with you young peeps. ;))

knowing that someone BLOL'ed to some dumb junk i typed is the highest compliment i could receive. thanks for the introduction to the new term, i might use it on my blog. srsly.

Yes!  Here's to filling 19,500 seats!

This is fun to say:  NYC + NYE = MMJ at MSG!

It makes for a nice chant.
Keep on dreamin' boy,

My Morning Jacket Plans New Year's At MSG

June 12, 2008, 12:10 PM ET

Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
As expected, My Morning Jacket will play an "evening with" New Year's Eve concert on Dec. 31 at New York's Madison Square Garden, in what will be the band's biggest headlining show to date.

Tickets for the event go on sale June 27. The show extends an MMJ New Year's tradition, which most recently featured a covers-packed show at San Francisco's Fillmore as 2006 crossed into 2007. The band performed tracks like Lionel Richie's "All Night Long," Prince's "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man" and George Michael's "Careless Whisper," among other oddities.

Meanwhile, MMJ is expected to post its best Billboard 200 chart position and first-week sales total next week with "Evil Urges" (ATO), its fifth studio album. The group is one of the centerpieces of this weekend's Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tenn., where it will play a midnight to 3 a.m. set on Saturday morning.

"The greatest thing about live music is that it's something you can't replicate," frontman Jim James tells Billboard. "It's something very communal, and I think society is lacking that. People are so alienated and trapped in their little cubicles with their computers and texting devices. When you go to a big concert and you're in a room with a bunch of other humans, I think that's really healthy."

i'm still really excited about this, but the only thing i demand is a cover of "i'm not in love" by 10cc. srsly. followed by "loose booty" from sly and the family stone. i want to sing the BOOTY part on stage. ARE THESE TOO MANY REQUESTS?

I am pretty sure this one is out of the question for me too.  Working in the retail world, I don't get much time off around the holidays and NYC is so far away.... :'(.  However, I am soooooo glad that I will be seeing them at RCMH in 8 days! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Not to be a skeptic, but I am in this case regarding whether this will sell out or not. Bigger bands have played MSG on NYE and not sold it out. I know MMJ have a great following in NYC, so I hope they can do it, although going it alone is risky.

Seriously, NYC for NYE? That's a helluva serious cash cow.

Can we at least get a live video feed or something?  I'm sure Wizz can hook us up with another fine bar to enjoy it live-time over on this other coast - and for so many in the middle, too!!  PRETTY PLEASE!!!! :-/
