Across 110th St. !!!!!

Midnight sharp until 4am, and the entire thing (with brief exceptions) in a steady rain--pouring sheets on and off of us and on the band and everyone soaked and smiling and dancing and basically silly euphoric.

The choice of early songs--Evil Urges, Off the Record, and Gideon really gave the show its completely concentrated beautifully catastrophic charisma--as if heaven had opened up to, as Jim said, give us its golden rain.

The choice choice of cover songs reinforced the super funky bias of the current Jacket mood and obviously pleased the soaked booty bumping faithful.

About 1:30am, Tommy, Bo, and Patrick jammed before the fiery finish to the first set. "One Big Holiday" captured the howling freak of nature force and poured it into our mouths to shout back at the band.

The light show and new backdrop are incredifuckingble.

Because of the rain, the crowd was tiny compared to Lips last year, like only a couple thousand hardcores at most, lots of people sleeping or in the cinema or at tent shows like Tiesto and Biscuits.

At the back of the field, a handful of darling dervishes stoked a steady boogie on sloppy slice of soggy grass.

Really, supremely, profoundly epic, effervescent, energized.

whothrewthecake

ok. if one sly and the family stone song has been played then LOOSE BOOTY should be no problem for new year's. but srsly, this set is tight.

ChiefOKONO

I'd sacrifice a finger (and a good one too, Im talking middle or index) to hear Oh! Sweet Nothin' at Radio City. Shit, maybe even a thumb. I can just imagine the reverb in the chorus. Ohhhhh man...
Say friend, you got any more of that good sasparilla?

i absolutely agree, i think i would just be a puddle on the floor if i heard that beautiful song start up
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

Killgies

I'm kicking myself for not going to this! It's almost in my backyard and I'm not there!
:'(
"Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"

shockadow

Seriously, was the reverb present on the songs that have always used it as another instrument?  that's my "Question of relevancy for the day."

Now back to the boob jokes!!!
O, How time flies, with crystal clear eyes.  But it's cold, it's cold, when you're ending with diamond eyes.

I doubt they'll play it again at Radio City, but Im sure they'll pull a few rabbits outta their hat. Im not surprised at all that they played Tyrone, it goes well with some of the new stuff. Thats the same reason Ive been telling my friend for weeks that they're going to play Cobra next Friday. I can feel it in my bones...

Kirk on OBH?  Across 110th Street?  That's why I love this band...
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

weeniebeenie

How loud can silence get?

logan5ive

I feel your pain.  I live about 80 miles west of Nashville.  I have been to Bonnaroo a few times just skipped this time.  I am a big Pearl Jam fan and basically skipped it because I thought they would do like at Lollapalooza and do a bunch of greatest hits and call it a night...what are they doing?  Breaking out the rarely played stuff and mixing it with the greatest hits.  I shouldn't have even looked at the setlist of MMJ and PJ.  Makes me sad sad sad.

My buddy Mark Lynn was planning on taping it. He taped Thunderdome a few years ago in the middle of "the shit". You can hear him scrambling to get in a portapotty at the very end of the last track from that show so that he could turn his gear off.

I also have to wonder if this will pop up on livebonnaroo.com. I figure the epic show from a couple of years ago never got released because it would have conflicted with "okonokos"... but there's really no reason NOT to release this one unless it just didn't get multi-tracked for some reason.

It's been a rough weekend. Long story. I just now got around to reading this. I thought they were playing on Saturday night for some reason.
