I just heard that they used to cover it back in '04 and '05--they played it a total of eight times.

Listened to a bunch of them on Archive--the band does an *incredible* job with one of the most beautiful songs ever written. . .

Question is--what do you think the chances are of them bringing this song back into rotation?
Because if there's one thing that goes well with shooting zombies it's a Dolly Parton cover-el chode

I recall reading that they generally don't like to do a cover too many times.  Something about keeping it fresh.

Hmm... do you think 3-4 years is long enough of a break? It would certainly be "fresh" if they brought it back now. . .

Thanks for the reply :)

I doubt it.  The only they seem to have brought back is Tyrone.  Have you seen the cover's compilation?  They've done an impressive amount of covers over the years.

Yeah, I've seen the covers compilation--it's actually what got me thinking about it as most of those are one-time-only deals, and they played "Northern Sky" several times (eight, I think) during their encores.

Got me thinking maybe they had a soft spot for the song and hoping they would bring it back. . .

Played this song at my wedding, huge Drake fan. I would absolutely die if I was lucky enough to catch this live.
Say friend, you got any more of that good sasparilla?

Very cool! I think thats what I was most concerned with regarding the whole ordeal: making a good playlist to listen to over dinner lol. You didnt happen to have any Iron and Wine or Traveling Wilburys, did you? How about Phone Went West or The Way That He Sings?

Yes to Iron & Wine, no to the Traveling Wilburys. Unfortunately I had not heard of MMJ at the time I got married--it's a good thing, though, because I think I would have run away and gone on MMJ tour if I had.

I was obsessed with having a good playlist at the reception, too. I eventually just broke down and hired one of my favorite bands to play most of the night and had a playlist for when they needed to take a break.

I walked down the aisle, btw, to a string quartet version of Phish's YEM. Thank god my husband is understanding of my obsession with music :)

Haha, very cool. We had a DJ and other than some songs I wanted played throughout the evening we did mostly 70s Motown and R&B, stuff you can dance to. A few of my cousins are musicians and they did Harvest Moon for the wedding party dance, which was really cool.

Definitely check it out, Nick Drake is great. You might recognize Pink Moon from a Volkswagen commercial a few years back. Very basic singer/songwriter stuff, but its just so pleasant and relaxing.

If you like Drake check out Vashti Bunyan. Theres a whole world of great English folk out there...
