I plan to drive to the show tonight and was wondering if anyone has experience with parking around the venue on a week night.  Will I be able to find street parking?  I know there are a few garages nearby, but the closest ones close at 7 or 8pm (at least that's what it says on a parking website I found).  Do these garages stay open on show nights???

I've read that parking is a bit of a pain around there... I know that at least one side of Constitution ave has parking, but finding a spot might be tough.
The wind blew me back, via Chicago, in the middle of the night.

If you get there early, when people are leaving work, you can find street parking.  You'd need to park around 5:30 pm or so.
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

This is correct. get there early and you'll find soemthing on the street. You don't need to pay meters after 6:00pm.

I am planning on taking the metro.... How far form the venue is the metro and it is hopefully not too shady at night? :)

Parking is a bitch down there, having been to several shows at DAR. You can find parking up and down 17 and 18th and on D/E and New York Avenue around AIA and the Corcoran.  The walk to Metro is not that far of a walk and not in a shady area. There will be lots of people walking from DAR after the show.

Garages do not, as a rule stay open late on show nights.

this is going to be so crazy trying to find a place to park. why do artists choose to play this venue?!?

sorry my last comment sounded douchey. im actually really excited i just dont want to die trying to get there. im from the baltimore area so traffic isnt a thing for me, its the not for certain parking and almost being murdered in dc before.

Public transportation.  Park further away and take a 10 min, 1.50 bus ride.  plus, riding the bus is always a wonderful time.  You get to see people you normally wouldn't otherwise.
God damn those shaky knees.

The area surrounding DAR is not in the slightest bit shady.  If you get there early enough, you can park on the street.  If not, there are garages around (make sure you find out what time they close).  You can always park up around the Willard/Old Ebbitt Grill, grab a drink and bite to eat, then walk over to DAR.

I did some research, and it looks like most of the garages near Constitution Hall will close before the show is over.  However, according to http://dc.bestparking.com there are a few open until midnight within a 10-15 minute walk from the venue.  Hopefully the website is current.

Seriously... you're by the monuments and the White House.

The closest and easiest metro stop is Farragut West.

Get out and walk down 17th street (literally down a slight hill) for about 6 blocks and the venue will be on your right.
