I just got back from a midday clinic at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston, that was open to students only. Today's clinician was none other than Jim James. He played 8-9 songs and answered questions from the audience for about 30 minutes. It was freakin amazing!

Jim James of My Morning Jacket
Monday, August 4, 3:00 p.m., Berklee Performance Center
**This event is for the Berklee community only. Valid Berklee ID required for admission. Space is limited.** As the singer, frontman, producer, and lead songwriter for My Morning Jacket, Jim James has been instrumental in defining the sound of the band. Emerging in 1998 as devotees of Neil Young's country-tinged classic rock, My Morning Jacket has steadily broadened its sound, embracing everything from neo-psychedelia and Americana to funk, prog, and reggae. The new album Evil Urges presents MMJ as Kentucky's answer to Wilco, with unexpected detours and sonic experiments. James has a respected solo career as well. He played the bandleader in the Bob Dylan biopic I'm Not There and appeared on the soundtrack with Calexico. His Berklee appearance comes on the heels of his performance at the Newport Folk Festival.

I was so excited! I ran home to tell all of my friends!

Kick ass!  What a nice surprise.  If anyone got the setlist, can you please post!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

EDIT:
Other than:
Q: What's that you're playing?
A: An Omnichord.

Pretty boss of Jim to play the omnichord at a guitar school.

I remember someone asked him the best piece of advice he could give. And he quoted Les Claypool. "If you mess something up, do it twice so that people think you meant it."

Also he said the omnichord reminded him of being inside a unicorn. And something about reminding him of a birthday cake with sprinkles.

That's so weird yet so true! :-/

I would love to see the world thru Jim's eyes for a day.

Thanks for the setlist!
