The Duo to Share New Year's with Surprise Me Mr. Davis

The Benevento-Russo Duo will ring in 2009 with longtime friends Surprise Me Mr. Davis, the supergroup consisting of The Slip and Nathan Moore. The late-night New Year's Eve performance will take place at New York's B.B. King Blues Club after the ball drops the morning of January 1. For those hoping to check out My Morning Jacket's performance at the nearby Madison Square Garden, The Slip assures fans, "This will be a late show starting after the ball drops, so if you're planning on seeing My Morning Jacket a few blocks away at MSG (a great idea), better pace yourself and make it a double-header."

Both The Duo and The Slip opened for My Morning Jacket in 2006. The Slip will back Sonya Kitchell on an extended tour scheduled to begin at South Burlington, VT's Higher Ground on September 24, while The Duo will appear at Asheville, NC's Emerald Lounge on September 9.

...I have a had some experience with after shows at BB Kings....not good ones....I was going to a Phil Lesh after party and they started it early and by the time I got there after the show (advertised as a Phil Lesh and Friends after party that was supposed to happen after the show not during it) it was almost over and they were not offering any sort of refunds....

I think one of the last after shows I went to at BB's was on NYE after Gov't Mule.  Karl Denson's Tiny Universe was playing.  :)

The show was sold out, but the doorman recognized us and down we went.  The friends that I came with bailed pretty quickly because it was packed tight, but I stayed found other friends and danced the rest of the night/morning away...got on a train back to NJ at 8 in the morning with the biggest ridiculous grin on my face.  What a night!  :D  ;D  ;) :)

Psyched for this after show...still haven't figured out where I'll be early, but I'm a big Duo fan, so that's almost a guarantee for me in the late slot.
