hahaha. . . you have a unique writing style, that's all I'm saying  :)

...and people wonder why The Jacket doesn't tour in the south.
Alright, I'm gonna need some help with this one--what does the above have to do with the South?

I dunno. Sort of a silly statement considering I have seen MMJ over 10x in the South.

easy way

Silly is right. MMJ rages the south & the south rages MMJ...simple as that.

Kinda pretentious of ya, chappy. Be more attentive and getcha some better tickets.  no one up front can communicate because there is to much ROCK occurring.
Fuckin' whiner...

The jackass factor is amazing today.  Does anyone remember the PROM in Athens, GEORGIA??  How bout the BEGINNING of this tour??  Who is Bonnaroo's "house band"? Where is Bonnaroo?  T-E-N-N-E-S-S-E-E!!  Seems to me that the South is where this band cut their teeth.  If you don't think Louisville, Kentucky is southern, you be a geographic dummy.  Ask Mason & Dickson...
RCMH was the biggest problem.  I dunno,  last time i checked...  NYC is NOT SOUTHERN..  It's "hipster douche" ground zero, as a matter of fact.

I was actually second row from the front at philly and there was a huge group of talkers.  the fact that the music was so loud up front didn't stop them from trying.  they just screamed to introduce their stupid friends to their other stupid friends.  It was sad, people are oblivious-its the same kind of people who go out with their children and rather than spend time with them, they just blab on the cell phone all evening.
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

Why can't bands control the 1st 10 rows at their shows??  It would seem like those spots should be reserved for the die hards but i guess those premium spots arwe too valuable to the ticket brokers.  That's as big a deteriorator to the industry as illegal downloading is.  I remeber paying 12 bucks to see STP in 1992.   My Jackson's Victory Tour tix only cost 45$.  they'd be $300 per these days...
I just get so into the band that a masked gunman could shoot the whole place up and as long as the band kept playin' i would be oblivious to it...
I'M JUST SICK OFF PEOPLE WHO THINK THEIR EXPERIENCE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN SOMEONE ELSE'S.  Music is a social thing at it's core.  It brings people together and sets a vibe.  Just because someone doesn't worship the steaming piles of poop left by a musician doesn't mean they shouldn't enjoy the experience THEIR WAY.  The shows would still be in bars if that's the only people at them.  Where do you think all these new people are from?  They are casual music fans who like what they're hearing.
Dig the music but don't infringe on someone else's good time.  Freedom of everything!!!  Including speech.

uh- I'll give you an example

I was in a grocery store a couple months ago and I watched (for a while until I actually left)  this older gentleman with his little daughter walking down the aisle- the guy had an ear piece in his ear and he was loudly talking into it- occasionally cursing- he never acknowledged his little girl once the whole time i was watching this go down. and from the time i saw him- until the time I left the store, he was on his phone.

another example
I was in vacation eating at this deli that they had on the resort grounds-  I witnessed a father and daughter eating lunch together- during majority of their time together the guy was on his cellphone again not acknowledging the little girl in front of him- she sat in silence the entire time looking terribly sad.

I;m under the belief that little events like that- going to the store with your child are KEY opportunities to have fun and create a strong bond with your kids, i understand that sometimes things come up and it very well may be that those too men are actually excellent fathers- but not from what I observed.  People should be aware that the growth of a child into a respectful caring human- starts with the parents and should spend as much time with their kids while they can- because once they grow up, you never get that much time again.

I do agree with that you said about freedom of everything- I just wish they were more respectful of the people around them- if you casually listen to music or the band then go to the show- support them.  Either fight your way to the front and be attentive- active listeners, or stay in the back and talk and enjoy the music in the background of your conversation.

Nice contradiction; on one hand you want the band to control who is in the first 10 rows, on the other hand you want freedom of everything.

clear as mud

Janet

Mr. Talky McGabsalot, the self professed "MMJ's biggest fan", was directly behind me last night at the Greek.  The man would not shut the eff up! All night long, giving a running commentary on the set list, questioning when, o when, will they play their best song ever, Wordless Chorus, and ripping into every song that was not Wordless Chorus.

I had to laugh when he said, "I don't understand why their lamest songs are the longest songs?".....

The song in question - Touch me Part II.   The dude is a complete jackass.

Thank god he shut up - and went home - and  after his song was played.

He should have just stayed home and listened to Z - we probably both would have had a better time.  (Ok, I still rocked out!)

Erik26

He must really like Wordless if he went to a three hour show just to hear it. That is to bad a real fan didn't have his ticket...

They were there at the Greek 5 feet from the stage...Yeah, hard to contain yourself when you're like 19 and you're friends are there, the band is on fire, and the JD and ganj are flowing but...SHUT UP!  Thankfully, the greatest offender on Friday night - when confronted by my grizzled statement that "I was there to hear the show"- did indeed SHUT UP...maybe he will even think 2x next time...Yes, seen a bunch of bands (over my 30+ years of going to shows) get big and start to draw the new fans who aren't hanging on every note or are too busy partying to notice the nuances around them.  Been one of the offenders too in my youth (though usually not the chatty Kathy and more the stumbling freak)...Jeff Tweedy has actually addressed this issue in his solo shows in a pretty straightforward and thoughtful way...calling bullshit on the yappers...I think it takes a little vigilanteism on the part of the audiophiles...call b s on your neighbor if they are spoilers...Live and let live is cool...until is kills someone else's buzz. If you want to yap, go up on the lawn and enjoy the view.  :'(

This is a fucking rock and roll concert, not a fucking tea party! Alright?"

Pete Townshend, Long Beach Arena, December 10th, 1971.

Alright, Pete!

Pete and Jeff got it right...Yap all ya want outside...inside is rock church...
