Full time job, two kids (one is a toddler), grad school, 2 hour drive...my ass is there. What's your excuse? BTW it will be really freaking cold in Columbus, dress warm.

Quotewhere u guys at?

I had a a bit of a drive, just got back about 20 minutes ago. it was awesome, but what else would you expect? i'll post more thoughts tomorrow.

TEO - It was very cool meeting you. My friend was not feeling good and was stumbling around and shit, I had to literally grab him and help him through the crowd. I got him some water and he stayed in the lawn the last few songs, I came back down for the rest of the set and to look for you but didn't see you.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Quotei hope someone will be taping... this will be my first MMJ concert  :D :D

What a REALLY nice little outdoor venue! Just the right size, staff was friendly, easy parking and in and out. When the crowd was starting to build I was losing hope of seeing true because of the building masses. But low and behold while sitting on a bench doing some peep watching, up walks true with immediate recognition of each other. He is a cool kickin' cat and I really enjoyed hangin' with him about 10 back in the middle. Highlights for me:
*The freaky freeze up by the band that lasted about 45 seconds during Evelyn, they looked like wax figures, don't think I had seen that before
*Dondante with extended Jam that melted faces
*A rousing rendition of Phone
*JJ semi-solo on Librarian
*The spooky theatrics with the cape
*Carl really stepping up into the spotlight with some fantastic fingering
Great show and so glad I made the trip. Lots of cool friendly people in the crowd. true-I bailed from the pit a few songs after you to get a different perspective from the top back and it was GREAT from back there as well. Oh yeah, met a guy from Boston who had seen them once and planned a business trip around Columbus so he could attend last night's show. The Jacket Love spreads.......

haha - I knew you would be excited Tracy.

Your one of those people who can't take any kind of criticism - it's like My Morning Jacket is your perfect child and they can't do anything wrong....and if someone challenges your perfect idealistic thoughts, you want them to leave ASAP. Rather than having a true and balanced unity where people feel different, think different and act different you want this forum to be a like minded place where "people love this band".  Here's the thing, I love this band, and with that love comes challenging them to be better.

My feelings toward the band differ from yours.  you should embrace all sides of the band, all sides of their music, all sides of their fans and all sides of their shows.  Yet you try to be sooo positive and embracing you actually come across as negative and snobby.

......don't worry.  I'm not going anywhere.  This is the greatest band in the whole fuckin' world.

no, you said you were leaving, that's why I responded at all. I'll go back to ignoring you and giving you your space to be free and hyper-critical (like I could stop you anyway?)

-it's just an internet message board man, chill out-  8-)

BH

The one place where you are wrong Funky is that Tracy never asked anybody to leave.

They have their opinion and he has his.  That's how it works.  Get over it.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

i'm pretty sure i saw a pair of mics that looked to be about front row center, so my fingers are crossed :)

we got to the venue about 3 and really lucked out and were given wrist bands to a radio promo/sound check sneak peak. we heard I'm Amazed-Thank You Too-At Dawn with a crowd of about 20-25 and all recieved a signed EU poster.  the show itself was great, closest i've ever been! even the badly singing, rude, drunk girl who insisted on trying to get our spot on the rail couldnt rain on my parade! although i defiantly think she seriously may have  ruined 5-10 peoples show.
i kinda think right now is a pretty good time to just sit down and sing people some mother-fuckin songs

That sounds really familiar.  I hate people who complain if you are too tall or that they want to be on the rail.... get there early and wait for the spot like everyone else who was on the rail.
