MMJ Show: Sorry Folks, Technical Difficulties

Posted by Matt Simpson - WNEW Staff on September 25, 2008

Technicaldifficulties
Apologies to everyone who tuned in at 2:00 today for the My Morning Jacket special. We experienced some technical difficulties today and were unable to bring you the show as planned.

We are examining the problem and plan to proceed with Saturday's encore broadcast on WNEW.com and on 102.7-HD2 in New York City. Check back to this page tomorrow for more details on the broadcast.

To all our listeners and blog readers, we apologize and hope you will stick with us as we get everything smoothed out. As we like to say around the station, "we're all on this journey together" and that includes you. WNEW-FM had their share of gaffes back in the day, so in that respect I guess we're just carrying on the tradition.

We know a lot of you have great memories of the original WNEW - if you happen to remember any of their famous on-air slip-ups please write in and leave us a comment, we'd love to hear about it.

A.M. Nuggets: Rock 'n Roll DL - The Injury Report

Posted by Matt Simpson - WNEW Staff on October 9, 2008

Nobody ever said rock 'n roll was a safe profession, but if you follow the news of late it seems downright dangerous. We never like to report bad news but thought we should update these stories for you:

   * Jim James of My Morning Jacket was injured on-stage on Tuesday night in Iowa, tripping and falling when the lights went down upon the close of Off the Record. The band reports that Jim suffered a severe torso injury and will be off the road for 2-3 weeks. This weekend's Chicago shows have been postponed.
   * Linkin Park's Chester Bennington suffered a back injury at his home on Monday, and the band has postponed their upcoming tour of China which was to benefit earthquake victims. Our sister station X107.5 in Las Vegas talked to bandmate Mike Shinoda today and got the scoop on the injury.
   * Drummer Travis Barker is recovering from that horrific plane crash last month - he's speaking out for the first time here.

We wish each of these guys a safe and speedy recovery.

And speaking of My Morning Jacket, we want to apologize for all the false starts on our Radio City broadcast. We know that many of you tuned in hoping to hear the show and were disappointed. We're working on a way to make it up to you, and will announce that plan on this page within the next few days. Thanks for sticking with us as we work through these very public growing pains...

maybe they will eventually air this afterall.

Not false starts but very much false hope. Put the damn tape or cd or whatever in and press play.
