I was at the show and I must say MMJ started out well.  Everryone is bumming for Chicago, but they will get their full show eventually.  I spent 80+ on 2 tickets, drove 2 hours, and saw 1/2 hour.  I would rather be in Chicago and see the whole thing in 3-9 months.

I'm just waiting for them to come back to Iowa City, hopefully it's soon!  But if the Scope Production people are in charge of the show we'll probably never hear about it.  They have no marketing ability that I can see.  If I hadn't run across a tiny ad in the paper I never would have known they were going to be In IC.  It was like a stealth show.  Let's see some promotion!  A big crowd is actually a good thing!

i'm going to have to disagree with you on this one....as a student who lives in IC (you may also, i have no way of knowing)

but i was handed several flyers about the show on campus just walking around, and they had posters all over those flyer boards downtown, inside campus buildings, and in windows of bars/restaurants.  i'm actually surprised the show remained as small as it did.

It remained as small as it did because nobody really knows about MMJ unless a crazy Jackethead like one of us brings a bunch of friends. I had 4 virgins with me :)

I think it came down to a ticket being 40$++ when its all said and done as to why not many people showed up

I cant think of many shows I pay close to 30$$, let alone 40 for.

Plus its a college town. I think I caught Umphreys McGee at a bar at PSU for about 18$ a few years back. How many students are gonna pay 40 for a band they barely, if at all, know about.

I think it mostly came down to ticket price

u couldnt be more wrong.  Dont start to hate on Scope, they booked MMJ.  and go grab a Daily Iowan and read the article about the accident.  Clearly says Scope is working to reschedule and its in the works.  And as stated earlier, this show was promoted.  i was handed flyers and it was on public billboards.  not my fault u never leave ur dorm room.

does anyone realize that many people had midterms?  and whether u want to believe this or not, most students dont pay for UI concert tickets.  They charge them to their U-bill which they have their parents pay hoping that they dont notice
