;D ;D ;D

the good news=she has a musician boyfriend so maybe she wasn't looking for a piece of JJ  ;) i did my research lol.

LOL.  Pennylane made my day!  So funny, my fiance said my mood changed noticeably when she came out on stage. :)

I caught her set at Lolla and wasn't impressed.  I don't think she's bad, just didn't think she was anything special.

agreed... oh and she has split ends, too

Snap! [smiley=shocked.gif]  ;D

He needs to sing with someone who sounds great and looks terrible.

All territorial issues aside, her performance didn't stand out to me, but it wasn't terrible...meh.

exactly. i would have been okay w/Aretha!

I thought she was great ... Her voice conveys power and emotion, and yet has a delicate quality.  I don't view her as a lackluster pick at all.

And Penny, we know you're lobbying VH1 for a new show "Rock of Love -- Jim James Edition"

As such you can't be considered objective here!  ;D

ha ha...i can't even respond because i'm so horrified at the though....NA and i would be going at it! SCORPION WOMAN GET YOUR DRY CRACKED HANDS OFF MY MANNNNNNNN

QuoteOr as ALady pointed out...Sharon Jones, Lucinda Williams...

Sharon Jones would've been off the hook.   I saw her at Mountain Jam, she was like the female James Brown.
Last Fair Deal Gone Down...

walterfredo

Saw Sharon Jones at Outsidelands, she's the real deal.

Sassbox

Yeah, I was lucky enough to catch her a few times this year...and she's playing JazzFest!
God sure baked a lot of fruitcake, baby.

As a bit of background, I am VERY critical of anyone who attempts a Dolly Parton cover, as Dolly's one of my favorite artists of all time.

But I just think that Nicole Atkins is vanilla as all hell.  And yes, I've heard her records, seen her live, etc.  She leaves me cold.

I'd put her in the same category as Grace Potter: hot woman who is passably talented, but who dudes keep telling me is the most. amazing. musician. evahhh.  I believe the dudes are just confused by the hotness.   ;)

I think Jim needs a stronger, more soulful voice as a counterpart.  Maybe Bettye LaVette?  Candi Staton?  I agree, Penny - Aretha would have been amazing!  We can dream...

kinda like the ladies are with Ben Harper or Michael Franti.  Both talentless....but the ladies sure dig 'em.

ALady

Point taken, but...ladies dig Michael Franti?   :-?

I'm guilty on the Ben Harper front, I guess, but I really do like his voice.

I think all the ladies are getting bitter on Nicole because they see their chances slipping away (reality sometimes hurts)

Look at the way they're looking at each other.

She was absolutely amazing, her voice was like buttah (and she's hot).

Sassbox

You can't really get bitter on someone who's a non-entity.  ;D

Plus, look at that bicep.  Methinks she might not be a she after all.

I kid, I kid.
