I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I wonder if the East coast tour will coincide w/ this show.   I thought I read somewhere that it was March but I could see it coordinated w/ this date.

I was wondering the same thing.

So I'm heading out for the Jim's NYC (not including Brooklyn) Solo Debut and I am thinking about picking up tickets for this show as well.  However, I do have a couple of questions (for anyone) that i'm hoping to find answers for and they are as follows:

1.  Jim appears to be headlining this event.  What length of performance do you think can we expect from him?  There seem to be four or five artists in total over about a 4 hour span, so maybe if he's given priority as headliner we could expect at least an hour?  Maybe an hour and a half?  Does that sound reasonable or would you think it would be a four or five song cameo?

2. Is this considered part of Jim's solo album tour or will this set be more of something like we saw in New Hampshire (old/rare jacket, some more common jacket, and covers).  I suppose this is probably my most important question as I can't justify spending another 90 dollars a ticket for something I will have seen the nigh previous.  If ground control or someone in the know can comment on this I would really appreciate it.

3.  Many sections of tickets are currently marked as "Check Back Later."  These are for the most part the best sections.  Do we think this is because they are actually sold out or that there are many currently tied up in the dinner party packages that they are selling? Does anyone think there is a realistic chance that good seats will actually become available closer to the date of the show?

4.  Some pictures show Stern Auditorium's floor as being completely flat and others give the impression that it slopes upward.  My girlfriend is not very tall, so we are wondering about this.

Any information is very much appreciated, thanks!

I wouldn't say for sure that Jim is headlining the event. I think they refer to all the artists as "headlining the event"....at least in this one article I found.

Also, there are five artists so far but more will be added. Apparently there were 8 last year. Here are some reviews of last year's event to maybe give a better idea of how things ran:

I wouldn't expect Jim to play an hour. More likely a half hour or possibly only a few songs depending on who/how many artist get added.

Can't say for sure but I'd imagine he'd play a few of the new solo songs. Maybe these few shows are like test runs for the full tour so they can work out some kinks. Hopefully someone can answer this one.

I'd e-mail the venue about that one if nobody here can help out.

I think that it's sloped a bit but again (sorry) I can't 100% confirm that. I do, however, think this show won't be full of standing so if everyone's in their seats hopefully she'll be able to see.

Stevie

itrainmonkeys, thanks for all of your information!

Since my last post, more tickets have opened up for this show.  You can now get pairs of tickets from row g and pretty steadily on back.  They are on the left side of the parquet but i don't anticipate any of those seats having a bad view.  Still sort of pricey, but there they are.

More tickets released--front row is available--pricey but close

Jim came on pretty early in the night. Played exploding, of the mother again, and A New life.

Stevie

Jim was great.  Patti Smith was awesome.  It was a very positive and good night. :)

A New Life was done yet again in a new way with a string quartet and Patti Smith's backing band.

Nice!   Was Jim's band there for the three songs too?

Yep.  And my friend's sister played with him in the Scorchio String Quintet.  A lovely night!

They didn't really say it, but seemed to be implying that his first two songs didn't go very well.  I'm not sure what they are talking about.  The first song was 'Exploding,' and he played it flawlessly, and led that into 'Of the Mother Again' which went off just fine if not for the fact that maybe Jim's mic was a bit louder than the rest of the band (his voice really did boom at some points).  But his singing and his stage presence was, as usual, top notch.
