Love the poster from the Greek.  And the Small Stakes always do a great job.  Such simplicity in their designs.

QuoteSo am I the only one a little surprised to not see any of YY's George Harrison covers on the MoF setlists?  They're all contributing from their solo and band catalogs and I figured these shows would be a good place to highlight Tribute To, which after all is for a good cause (though I do likes me them hamburgers!).

P.S. just got promoted to "junior member"!  How long to the next level?  Its like gaining rank in Call of Duty (anyone?).

I did think they would do a cover or two each night just based on the fact that they did last time they all toured together.  Always On My Mind and Girl From the North Country come to mind, but I'm pretty sure they did at least one cover every night.

Girl From North Country would be sweetness

didn't they do that at bonnaroo 2005? i could have sworn conor, gillian, JJ, and the dude from super furry animals. or am i remembering wrong?

You are remembering half right. It was all of them but not Girl From the north country. Don't know the name of the song but it went "Singing a son in the morning, singing a song at night..." or something like that. I do remember that it was those lyrics repeated throughout the whole song though.

EDIT: I t was "Singing a song in the morning" by Kevin Ayers

Singing a song in the morning
Singing it again at night
1 don't even know what 1'm singin' about
But it makes me feel I feel alright
Yeah yeah
Makes me feel I feel alright

There is a high quality release of that live.  Official release I think even.  If anyone needs it, let me know, it's a MUST HAVE.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

I dont have it, but I'm pretty sure it was from a Paste Magazine sampler.

That version came on a Mojo Tribute to Bob Dylan. By far the highlight of the disc. It has the Burrito Brothers, Andrew Bird, Roger McGuinn, etc. But I remember being really excited to get this recording.

I could be wrong...but it might be from the ACL performance...seen below...

Just got back to Georgia  :'( from the three California shows.  While I didn't keep track of the setlist for last night's show, I can say that it didn't stray far from the Oakland and LA shows.  Conor and M. changed it up with two other songs during their solos/duets, but I'm not familiar enough with either of their catalogs to tell you what they were.  The show started out with Say Please, The Right Place, etc.  Jim sang his same set - Golden, Bermuda Highway, Wonderful, etc.  Encore was At Dawn to begin and His Master's Voice to end.  Of course he sounded A-mazing.  He just crushes me everytime I hear him.

All in all, they sounded pretty sick last night.  You could tell that Jim was in a great mood - he was laughing, smiling and joking the entire time.  As an aside, I was having a pre-game beer at a bar down the street from the Sprekles at about 6:15 and he walked right by me.  I was sitting outside, not paying attention of course, and caught the side and back of him as he walked by me.  He was smiling and talking on his cell phone.  He was apparently on a walkabout and just seemed to be taking it all in.  Pretty impressive considering the show was supposed to start at 7 and he wasn't even suited up.  Anyway, it made my whole trip.

M. didn't seem to be as "on" as Jim and Conor - maybe it was because no one from the audience gave him any love! :-[
The crowd was a little rowdy, even though everyone stayed seated for the show.  There were plenty of "I love you"s shouted out to Jim and Conor but not to M.  Make sure y'all give M. some love at the future shows.  At one point, a girl shouted to Jim, "I love your beard Jim". He immediately quipped back, "I love your beard."  It was pretty amusing.

Overall, a great show, but I think the Greek might have topped last night's.  The acoustics were phenomenal in LA and all of the boys were totally on.

Unfortunately I will have to wait another few weeks to see them in Atlanta.  :'(
